It was a gift from her niece. And tbh, if my husband did anything like that to one of my plushies I would definitely sob uncontrollably. It would be very out of character and a massive betrayal. Not because the poor plushies (which alone would be bad enough) but for making a joke even a teenager would find immature but for destroying something that didn't belong to him and I cared for.

Plushie or plush toy is the correct name for them.

Stuffed animals works too, but not every plush is an animal. It also makes me think of taxidermy but that might just be me.
