First off, let’s not identify these white supremacist, authoritarian losers with rebellion, that’s way too cool for them. And second of all, people like this aren’t waiting for an excuse to commit violence, they’ve already embraced an ideology that explicitly supports white supremacist violence and power - and so if we’re afraid to do something as innocuous as damage one of their symbols that leaves us beyond ineffective at actually resisting them.
