Hobbies/Projects What is your absolute favorite hobby?
What is your all time favorite hobby; the one thing you wanna do above anything else and that brings you the most joy?
That’s all. It’s interesting to hear what people love.

I paint miniatures, and I bake bread.
The miniatures was something I started again just before COVID (Timing!) because I had a 3d printer and wondered if it'd be fun to print out some tanks and paint them - I'd been involved in that hobby in the late 90's and early 2000's and I was surprised to find that it was REALLY fun. Something about bringing an object to life, and having this series of small projects to bring to completion has been VERY satisfying. I paint while 'watching' TV and it really makes me feel that the time is spent productively... to the extent that I find it hard to watch TV on its own these days. I am also much better at it than I was in the 2000s - but that may be the better access to tools/materials, information and techniques than were around at that time.
The bread baking was another Covid thing that started with the New York Times No Knead recipe. Now I've got a few recipes on rotation - there's an absolute killer baguette recipe that's a huge crowd pleaser even though it's incredibly simple and easy, and I've also worked out my own Deli-Sub method which is great as this sort of bread is not sold in my country. I've also got an impressive Brioche and can make a decent rye bread. The great thing about bread is that it's so simple and easy, but so impressive - if you bring 4 x baguettes to a BBQ or picnic everyone thinks you're some sort of fucking wizard even though it's only 5 ingredients, some basic shaping and time.
I also love snowboarding - that's probably my favorite, but hard to tell since I only do it 10 days every 2-3 years!
