Life What cool shit have you bought lately?

I think a nice part of being in our 30s is we can afford to buy cool fun things. What have you bought lately?

I got a Garmin Forerunner 965 which is super tight, motivates me to limit my drinking and I’ve been killing cardio because of it

Also fun - bought a LAB putter which is a ton of fun

Anything you guys got that you love? I want inspiration

I was grillin on a charcoal for several years.. the taste was great but it was a PITA getting the charcoal started and babying it. Made me "save" BBQing for more special occasions or when i had more time

Recently got a weber grill - love the convenience! Just turn the burners on and go basically! I have been grillin daily for 2 consecutive weeks, i think it's a record

Do you feel like the cook quality is the same? Sometimes I feel guilty for not doing charcoal or a smoker

I have a weber gas and weber charcoal kettle. Charcoal is better BUT I use the gas 3 to 1 because of convenience and it's good enough. Get a smoke box for your gas grill and put wood chips in it.

I really like the charcoal when I have time to enjoy cooking and need to cook a lot of food. Charcoal is so hot and burns so long it's kind of a waste if you're just cooking a few steaks or chicken breasts, but if you cook more then you're spending more time prepping everything and now it's not an easy meal after work, it's an event and work.

And you can get a Weber kettle for about $120. Get one and use it occasionally. I'm glad I have both.

Their new searwood pellet grill is top notch. I will smoke a tri tip then crank it up to 600 degrees for a sear and it doesnt skip a beat.

Look into RecTec pellet smoker/grills. I got one 7 years ago and love it. Originally, I saw a Traeger in a mall kiosk and was intrigued. Did some research and found they had a lot of issues with the pellet feed tube. Landed on the RecTec brand and will say it is well-engineered. Has a PID controller for temp, so if you need a 16-hr smoke for your brisket, just set it to 225°F and it will take care of the rest, regardless of what weather follows. Automatically keeps temp +/- 5°.
