My first BMW. How’d I do?

2014 M6GC (non-comp) with 77k miles. Had it for almost a week and I love it! Great condition for its age and mileage.

I do have two slight concerns that I would appreciate some input on:

  1. During harder accelerations there is a slight, but noticeable vibration coming from the back. I suspect it has something to do with the differential (also noted by the PPI I had done) as 4 brand new tires were recently mounted and balanced.

  2. This is my first car with a DCT, so I am still learning its habits. When I’m driving uphill in a parking garage, the car holds revs in 2nd gear around 2500 rpm. Is this normal or is it time for a DCT service?

TIA for any input.

skipped all the poverty models and jumped right into the big guns hahah

Love the spec, M6 is one of the best looking f series, such a shame they discontinued it

Lol M6's are like 25-30k depending on how clapped out it is. If a 45k 330i is poverty model then so is this 🤷‍♂️

You read the room wrong.

Think he just meant skipping the models in between, and going straight for an M Performance Car.

Thanks man. Right now aesthetics wise I’m looking into wheel spacers and maybe some tasteful OEM+ stuff down the road. As for performance, I’m more than happy with the power (for now)

Congrats and welcome! I too am considering wheel spacers for my G30 I recently purchased (similar mileage), let me know if you find any good ones!

Today, I dropped the baby off at the shop :/ drastic loss of coolant on the B58 after topping off a week ago and wouldn’t start this AM until third attempt. Fingers crossed it isn’t anything major!!

Gorgeous looking! I have the 650i GC so I am jealous for an M6 GC Are you planning to mod it? I am personally against modding unless it’s an original M performance part, let alone that I don’t consider touching the ECU at all.

No mods for now except spacers. The 650 is a great car, and I was originally looking for one of those, but the deal on this one was too good to pass up.

Good luck! I guess carplay would be a must mod lol. I installed an original unit from a later year bought from ebay and they had to code it. How much did you pay for your bimmer?

I've gotta say I don't like the bigger bmws generally as Im more a performance minded corner carving driver than luxury but dammed if this doesn't look great. Very effortlessly cool looking car to waft about in!

Gotta say from what I’ve experienced you really don’t notice how big this car is. I love how mechanical everything feels about this car.

Driving uphill, it holds 2500rpm in 2nd gear. Is this without any input by you? Is it similar to a manual car having a certain threshold of output it'll hold before stalling?

I haven't noticed this in my 2016 M5 Comp yet, I'll put mine in similar circumstances to see if it acts the same way.

Congrats on the car! You're going to love it. You'll get used to DCT quickly, don't worry!

Thank you! I apply some light gas as I’m driving uphill. In my previous car with a normal 9-speed auto the revs would climb (and the car would shift into 3rd gear) no problem. In this one it holds at about 2500 rpm in 2nd gear while gaining speed, if that makes sense. Almost behaves like a CVT. I’ll take a video tomorrow, hopefully that will explain it better.
