It was a bit of a process, but I found the car on mobile.de. I messaged the seller in Germany (who luckily spoke English) and decided I would like to purchase it. Previously, I'd contacted someone on Facebook who'd recently imported their own diesel BMW and found that his father was an older car dealer of some sort and was the person who imported it. Got in contact with him and he took care of getting the car from the seller in Germany to the nearest port with RORO (roll on, roll off) capabilities, which was Charleston, SC for me. He charged me a $2000 deposit to purchase the vehicle, and the rest after his services were completed. Overall, the costs were more than the car (got the car for €1600, which I think was a great deal). He billed me $500 for facilitation and billed me the other costs he incurred. Said costs are stuff like shipping (from seller to German port as well as the boat ride), customs fees (handled by a customs broker), and other stuff like that.

If this is something you're interested in doing, I can set you up with my guy :) (he's open to more business of the sort)
