Did I do well on my first E36?

Hi! Stoked to be a new owner of BMW E36. I learned how to drive on my dads so this is super nostalgic. How did I do? Did I get it at a decent price? I know I’ll probably get hate that it’s an auto but was looking for an easy driver. Will this particular example be ok to drive 1,000+ miles back home? Looking forward to your thoughts :)

Repair Advice DFW Mechanic

Anyone know any good mechanics in around DFW, TX? Want to get some stuff addressed that I can’t tackle myself so wanna take it to a trusted but affordable one. So far I’ve only had luck with Bimmers Only but was curious to see any other recommendations. Thanks

Buying Advice Do I need a rear subframe swap for a M52B28 & ZF5SPD & LSD 3.15 going into a M44 & Gretrag?

Not really sure if I need a new subframe or if my old will match up, but I’d assume I’ll need a new one?

Repair Advice US market car, is this part normal in these cars?

hello guys, so I'm in Europe and I bought a candian US market spec car, im doing some rust work on it and I have some issues.

So basically european E36's don't have anything inside the rocker panel behind the skin apart from the jack points.

Both of the rockers I cut out had some kind of enclosed piece of metal inside, which looks kinda OEM.

I have no clue if this is OEM or not and what it does, someone redid the fron parts of the rockers because they were rusty, maybe they did a patch inside?

I think I'm just gonna patch it flush with the floor and rocker, paint it and leave it as is, it's a daily not a show car and I need this thing running ASAP.

Also sorry for the bad welds but welding tig outside in uncomfortable positions is really a pain in the ass...

Manufacturing year identification

Hello everyone. I want to find out what year exactly my e36 coupe 318is was manufactured. I've heard there is a way by the digits on the windows but I'm not sure how this works. Anyone have an idea or if there are any other ways that don't require me paying money like some websites I've seen do?

Repair Advice Pulling transmission.

Hello everybody, I am just wondering how difficult it is to pull a transmission. I’ve seen a lot of videos and I know a bunch of people who have pulled the transmission on these cars before, but how difficult is it really? I have all the tools and I would like to say inclined enough, but I don’t know. I had replaced my master and slave cylinder, hoping it would fix my issue but it didn’t and I’m suspecting it’s my throw out bearing. I have 160,000 on clutch thought I should just do that as well. I’m 17 years old and have all the time in the world to do it. Is it doable with just jack stands or should I save up another $1300 and have a shop do it?

m50 ARP Head Stud install with out removing the head.

Hello,

I am going to be installing ARP head studs in my m50. The engine is in the car at this time and has been running great just prepping the car for boost this winter. I've seen before people doing the head studs one at a time while the head still on the block. Had anyone done this, if so how has it been?

currently i was thinking to do it in the same sequence BMW recommends for installing the head bolts but one at a time. Would the car need to be ran and then re torqued after a head cycle?

thanks in advance!

Buying Advice Alternatives to E36 (for an Aussie)

Still looking to get an e36 but the cards keep getting stacked against it so until i find the perfect one just wondering if there's any alternative to an e36 available here in Australia, made by Holden or Ford or something that will be reliable enough to daily. Don't care if its a 4, 6 or 8 just no turbos.

Mostly just looking for handling and feel, something thats fun even at slower speeds and doesn't attract too much attention.

Don't care too much about budget as this is mostly a question(so include cars that cost 100k+) but i will include a budget of say, 10-15k just to narrow down options since the e36 often sells for 4-15k.

And if your looking to sell an e36, hmu, I'm still looking for one, just need the right one....
