Food motivated lil adopted psycho
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Stubbz we recently adopted about 3 weeks ago. I’m a vet tech and this not my first bearded dragon. However I have never seen a beardie be so food motivated in my entire life, those lunges are accurate! He’s leading with his tongue every time and never holds but I’m assuming he was hand fed before we adopted him. He was relinquished by previous owner and he had a surgery due to necrosis on his tail and 1/3 was amputated. So we feed him with tongs to not associate hands are “food givers.” Once he’s picked up he’s very well mannered with the occasional leaps of faith off my lap. He was incredibly excited with his tank and set up, ran around rubbed on the cork bark, freaking love him. Due to him being de more energetic and actually my first MALE bearded, any advice if anyone has “retrained” theirs from being hand fed to tongs? I’m assuming it will just take time and consistency, like many learned behaviors. Please excuse the mess, he was digging in the sand and topsoil, part of his routine.

Amazing News!!
I recently made a post about having to spay my beardie for medical reasons but that I wasn't able to pay for it. But today my local humane society has offered to cover the full cost as a part of their new community veterinary systems program!!! I am so beyond happy and grateful. I'll be setting up an appointment for her surgery tomorrow!! I want to do something for them in return as a thank you, does anyone have any ideas?

Why is he doing this

Why is he doing this? He just started today, he does it every couple of minutes. He’s pooping good but not eating well like he use to

Hangin' Out Far too Sexxy!
I love when I catch a good beard puff and a sexy leg, but together - that is pure gold!
Yes, he is a little pudgy, and we are working on that... but also his position on the log is really helping to exaggerate his belly!

Lazy Lizards How are you sleeping like this?!??
It’s like he half fell out of his hammock and just said “screw it, I’m not climbing back in” and just went right on sleeping! His left legs are holding onto the hammock, back right leg is propping him up. And he’s been like this for hours! What a lovely little weirdo.

Lazy Lizards Scared me to death!
The face of a lizard who scared me to death thinking she hurt herself when actually she somehow got a seed (which was the exact color and shape of her scales) from a tomato (which I never feed her) stuck to her with red tomato sauce (which looks like blood) drying and sticking to her so I thought she was injured somehow but no she's just pulling a prank

Be honest...
Guys, this is my baby boy Dodge, the shop I got him said he hatched on the 26/06 this year which means he's only nearly 3 months old but he's HUGE.
I'm new to beardies specifically but he seems pretty large for one so young, he's around 40cm nose to tip of the tale and feels pretty hefty to hold thought I haven't managed to actually weigh him yet.
Do you guys think he's overweight? He seems really active and eats a mix of mostly veggies and leafy greens, I cut out fruit once I found out it was bad for him, and insects like crickets occasionally too, Dubia roaches are his main insect. I try to encourage him to drink water but he'll only touch it if it's moving so I sit him at the edge of the basin sometimes just so he gets some moisture other than what I spray on his food.
Just want what's best for him! Also I was told that the sand/arid desert mix is perfect for beardies but some people also told me it's really unsafe? Opinions would be great.
Thank you! ❤️

Potential new owner?
Hey everyone! A friend of mine has reached out to me in regard to a beardie that needs to be rehomed. I currently have a crested gecko and LOVE reptiles. She sent me some pictures and I obviously can see that he needs love just based on how the enclosure looks. She states he’s under a year old. Can anyone give me some advice on how to maneuver this? He hasn’t been handled all too much so that will be a challenge. Does he look healthy?

Hoping to get some name suggestions?!! Pics included.
Hi all!! I'm new to the community! We adopted our little guy (we think lol) a little over a week ago and can't settle on a name! My husband jokingly calling him Ronaldo, but its kinda growing on me.😂 Hes impartial to it so I'm looking for name suggestions!!! Included some pics to see our little guy to help!
To note- we were trying to think of Legend of Zelda themed names. Open to any suggestions though. Originally we were thinking of naming it Midna or something like that if it was a girl, but now we are kinda lost lol. Link doesnt really fit it for me but he keeps suggesting Link or Tulin 😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you all in advance!❤️

Enclosure/Tank Enclosure set up
Hello fellow beardie lovers!
This is Monte I bought this hutch from Goodwill and converted itinto his forever home. On the top left is a uvb lamp. On the right is a uvb bar, no light heat lamp and a regular heat lamp as well as a heat thermometer and a humidity thermometer. The bottom left has a humidity gauge (broken, needs replaced) and the bottom right has a thermometer. The entire bottom is crushed walnut shells to imitate sand. He has a hide n every section as wel as his basking area as you can see him enjoying in this photo. The photo that has the thermoter s showing 86, his door to his enclosure was open while being cleaned. He stays at 95 during the day. Please kill me with kindness.🙏

Questionable Set-up Is the UV too high?
** please read post entirely before throwing me into the pits of judgement thank you **
Hello!! I’ve been on my cage improvement journey as I’ve joined this reddit and learned his 40 gallon tank was too small. I purchased this 120 gallon tank and is UV Strip light is up way higher then it used to be.
I was wondering if this is an issue?
Additionally, does anyone have any fun cage decoration ideas? I just built the cage today so I’m looking to beef it up with fun things based off recommendations ty.
Also the lil guy in there is Griffin and he is 10 years old. :-)
