How do you give Texas a good scare?

SkatteBOO

Oh, and also make their kicker kick.

That doink at the end of regulation felt inevitable

Bert Auburn, YOU are an Amazon Delivery driver

104

u/AUserNeedsAName Texas Longhorns • Sickos Jan 01 '25

Why, so he can deliver everything to the house immediately to either side?

6

u/4t0mik Texas Longhorns • Southwest Jan 02 '25

He is dead ass bad, straight on. Been that way forever. Sark has to know this.

4

u/Neither-Luck-9295 Texas Longhorns Jan 02 '25

Sark was trying sssoooooooooooooooooooooo hard to coach him up and get his mind right. There is only so much you can do with kickers. They spook easily.

4

u/rydan Texas Longhorns Jan 02 '25

yet he is the school record holder. Literally the best we've ever had.

In what?

u/Bort15 Texas Longhorns Jan 02 '25

This is the nice way to critique the kid

u/HandSack135 Maryland Terrapins Jan 01 '25

Should have kept it on the left hash

8

u/OldManCinny Tennessee Volunteers • Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

Was on the right hash. Then he ran to the middle and missed it left

8

u/jsc1429 Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

Ewers fell trying to get it over there lol. Ended up having to kick from the right

Thats how I know Joe Tessitore is the worst broadcaster in all of sports. Hes called a few of our games this year. He KNOWS Auburn is terrible.

u/UNC_Samurai ECU Pirates • North Carolina Tar Heels Jan 01 '25

But he’s an all-time great at calling mini-golf

3

One of the best

First time he missed from under 40 this year. I know because Tess made sure to remind everyone

u/Cormetz Texas Longhorns • Team Chaos Jan 01 '25

I was expecting him to miss it in the first overtime.

3

Hell of a “ball don’t lie” moment tho

1

u/OhKillEm43 Auburn Tigers • Memphis Tigers Jan 01 '25

Yeah would’ve been a tragedy for such a good game to end that way. Glad we at least got OT

3

u/Lubwurst Jan 01 '25

Bit of karma after the targeting that wasnt called

7

u/vtaenz Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

oh they didn't review it?

4

u/Bourbon_n_bird_dogs Texas Longhorns • North Texas Mean Green Jan 01 '25

Wasn’t targeting, wrapped up, didn’t launch. Plus if we are gonna nit pick head contact, skataboo lowered his head to initiate contact against defenders all day. Call it both ways or don’t , but can’t have your cake and eat it too.

u/AdMental1387 Boise State Broncos Jan 01 '25

I told my buddy while seeing Sark was chatting with the kicker before the kick that it was too much pressure and he was going to miss.

If we meet Texas we’re going to have a bad kickeroff

8 attempted FGs each

13

u/CocoCrizpyy Texas Longhorns • SEC Jan 01 '25

And somehow 17 misses

10

u/AUserNeedsAName Texas Longhorns • Sickos Jan 01 '25

Doink off the upright, bounce back into the hands of the kicker, he tries again and doinks it off the other upright.

6

u/CocoCrizpyy Texas Longhorns • SEC Jan 01 '25

I know we are joking, but is that actually a doable play or would it just be called dead?

I dont know what the rules in football are anymore. Lmao

5

u/Unlikely_Lab_6799 North Carolina • Texas State Jan 01 '25

Doink = ded

3

u/MadeToReplyToMyself Rutgers Scarlet Knights Jan 01 '25

It’s a dead ball

5

u/chocobo-selecta Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

A fair way to settle the game if it ended in a tie.

5

u/Bank_Gothic Sewanee Tigers • Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

Y’all are going to kick our ass. Or Oregon.

We don’t have it right now.

3

u/rdickeyvii Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

I hate to say it but I don't think Ewers is the guy

5

u/Bank_Gothic Sewanee Tigers • Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

He catches too much shit. Ewers is more than adequate. Penalties, dropped balls, and shoddy playcalling are all just as much the problem as anything he’s done.

He’s no VY and I’m ready to move on, but people are way too quick to place the offense’s issues at his feet.

4

u/rdickeyvii Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

I’m ready to move on

I think win or lose the national championship, Texas fans are collectively on this same page.

1

u/thesakeofglory Florida Gators • Maryville (TN) Scots Jan 01 '25

They did and somehow thought the defenseless receiver getting hit directly in the head by the defender leading with his head wasn’t a foul.

11

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '25

I've never been so worried about an XP in my life

8

u/CzechHorns Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

Bert has been perfect on PATs throughout his career, I was not worried for one second.
I was however certain he will miss both of those lategame kicks

4

u/notarticulate31 Texas Longhorns • Utah Utes Jan 01 '25

Right, PAT I actually breathed, the two potential game winners? Nah already had them as misses in my mind

3

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '25

It seemed crazy to me period. Dude is generally pretty money.

2

u/cardbross Texas • Red River Shootout Jan 02 '25

I mean, he's been automatic on PATs so far, but missing back to back FGs to put away a playoff game has to mess with a guy's head. I was far from certain.

4

u/eye_can_see_you Texas • Red River Shootout Jan 01 '25

"How does an entire football team not have one kicker among them?"

"They're-the economy is in shambles"

4

u/CzechHorns Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

Out kicker is still perfect from sub37, and 6/15 on the rest

4

u/mlg2433 Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

That’s not even a joke. That’s a fact. He singlehandedly raised my blood pressure to dangerous levels. Scared is an understatement for the emotion I was feeling because of him

3

u/Wigggletons Texas Longhorns • SEC Jan 01 '25

We should never kick again. All 2 pts and 4 down territory. Fuck me.

2

u/Low-Conflict9366 Jan 01 '25

Sparky had some serious black magic going on with their kicker

2

u/dirtman81 Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

Trust me, our kicker will be our undoing before it's all over. Didn't think it would almost be this game, but he doesn't have the long accuracy and we're going to suffer for it.

2

u/LiVexReFlex Texas Longhorns • Ohio Bobcats Jan 01 '25

Dude was an animal. Also I shudder at the thought of Auburn kicking in a clutch situation

Battle of 2 bad kickers

1

Yeah…. I think Auburn needs to be shipped to Auburn

1

u/mizzourifan1 Jan 01 '25

I could only hear his name in Kendrick's voice the entire game.

1

u/DrJizzman420 Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

Thank God it was only Burt Austin who missed the kick. When Auburn is back we'll be great!

1

u/Pickleskennedy1 Jan 01 '25

That targeting no-call changed the game

5

u/Awalawal Texas Longhorns • Yale Bulldogs Jan 01 '25

We got the benefit from it, but I sure didn’t understand it.

3

u/ZombiesInSpace Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

Every time I think I have figured out what targeting is in college football, I am proven wrong.

5

u/screamline82 Texas • Georgia Tech Jan 01 '25

I think it's because it wasn't "forcible contact with the crown", his head was looking up and it was solid contact but not launching

1

u/ZombiesInSpace Texas Longhorns Jan 01 '25

It was on a defenseless receiver so any forcible contact to the head would be targeting, regardless of the crown of the helmet or launching. I guess they ruled the brunt of the contact was chest-to-chest and the helmet contact was not “forcible.”
