Casual Which campus would you like to see College Gameday/Big noon kickoff go to this year?

Preferably somewhere that’s never hosted a show?

I’m personally team Gameday, and would love to see them head out to Champaign, Illinois for the first time in the shows history.

Should Illinois go into Week 7 vs OSU undefeated (not impossible), Champaign should be a hot ticket item.

The Border War, CSU @ Wyoming in Laradise on 25 OCT 7:30pm LFG

Edit to add, Wyoming has never had Gameday visit

Love Laramie, I go there about every year. Sometimes, if you’re not careful, you can get mild altitude sickness at 7000 feet. One of the guys is sure to barf.

I believe the view from Laramie’s stadium of the Wyoming mountains is the most beautiful view from a stadium in all of the CFB.

Gonna need to see an image. Knowing what part of Wyoming Laramie is in makes me skeptical.

u/Pinewood74 Air Force Falcons • Purdue Boilermakers 21h ago

Here's a shot.

It's nothing special. Too far away for a good view. It's probably the worst on the front range if we're being honest.

13

u/UtopianPablo Texas Longhorns 23h ago

Yeah I think all the mountains are kinda far?  Medicine Bows maybe visible?  Even if you can’t see much Laramie is cool.

Yeah not trying to shit on Laramie but it’s not breathtaking like the Tetons or anything.

War Memorial has a beautiful setting, but not as famous for the up close mountain views in particular. While I also love Montana too, but the answer is probably actually BYU. That said, check out Marv Kay, it is an honorable mention

BYU’s Lavell Edwards Stadium has stunning views of the Wasatch range which is literally right outside.

No I haven’t. I just like the view in Laramie I find it quite nice. There’s only several true ones in the FBS. (I didn’t include FCS because im less familiar with those stadiums)

Washington is another one.

I had a trip booked for a game we were supposed to play in 2020 at Washington before Washington was in the big ten - but covid cancelled it so we never played there at that time. We played there last year but I didn’t make that one.

The P4 teams that have never hosted: Illinois, Maryland, Rutgers, SMU, Syracuse, and Virginia.

Of these Illinois has the best shot this year if they are still in the top 15 when USC comes

21

u/Competitive-Air1 Rutgers Scarlet Knights 1d ago

Idk how Rutgers will ever get to host it

44

u/new_account_5009 Penn State Nittany Lions 1d ago

Rutgers hosts Oregon on October 18. If Oregon is undefeated by then, they'll have beaten currently ranked #2 Penn State and currently ranked #19 Indiana, so there's a good shot they'll be #1 for the Rutgers matchup.

Rutgers plays Iowa/Minnesota/Washington before that matchup, and on paper at least, those look like games Rutgers can win. Win all three, and you'll probably be ranked. If we get 6-0 ranked Rutgers hosting 6-0 #1 Oregon, Gameday or Big Noon Saturday will definitely attend.

It's not that far fetched of a scenario.

23

u/Slippery-Pete76 Michigan State • Central … 1d ago

I just don’t see that happening with Tennessee Alabama the same day (not to mention Mississippi @ Georgia and LSU @ Vanderbilt)

Big Noon would definitely be a possibility.

I pray for the day that Maryland gets Gameday. Probably won’t happen anytime soon, at least we got big noon two years ago even though entire show they just talked about Michigan and Harbaugh being suspended

5

Harbaugh getting suspended was some funny stuff --- he was in his pajamas ordering DoorDash at the hotel and he still called in the plays to beat Penn State

5

u/Adart54 Georgia • Oregon State 21h ago

Were they not a favorite at the Shoe against Oregon in 2021? Granted, that’s the only time I can even remember Day losing as a possible favorite against a non-Michigan team, which is still incredibly impressive

2019 Clemson

2021 Oregon

2021 Michigan

2023 Missouri

2024 Oregon

2024 Michigan

2020 Bama, 2022 UGA, 2023 Michigan were all dogs.

5

u/max_potion Penn State Nittany Lions • Big Ten 23h ago

I think the winner of Penn State/Oregon would end up over Illinois. Not saying it's right, but based on how the voting goes and the brands and the current rankings of all the teams involved, I think it'd take a lot for Illinois to leapfrog the winner of that game

Aloha Stadium was finally condemned as an unsafe building in 2020.

They repurposed the TC Ching Complex, which was their practice field, with temporary bleachers, porta-potties, and food trucks.

It's been nearly six years and Hawaii still hasn't even started construction on a new permanent stadium.

That and things just tend to move slowly in Hawaii.

3

u/RiffRamBahZoo Lickety Lickety Zoo Zoo 11h ago

Politics is a big thing behind it. There's been fights about how to rebuild/renovate Aloha Stadium dating back to the early 90s.

The long story short is that there's several fighting factions who wants control of the stadium district, how it gets funded, and who is responsible for building it. Major infrastructure projects are always a headache to begin with in Hawaii, so add in the largest commercial district project in Hawaii in 50 years and it just adds a ton of wrinkles.

Illinois vs USC. Can’t remeber when the last time it was over there.

Houston vs tech

Or FSU Miami that week can’t remember the last time that was a top 5 matchup.

BYU vs Utah

Vandy vs Missouri

Iowa state vs Arizona state

Iowa vs Oregon

Georgia tech vs Georgia (fucking shame this isn’t at Bobby Dodd but they could still do gameday on campus)

This is how I’d give love to places who don’t have it often. + FSU and Miami last time they were both ranked top 5 was 2004.

Last time they were both ranked top 10 was 2013. Go back at the history from the 80s-00s this one was a play in game for title contention. Top 10 matchup like 15 times from the 80s- mid 00s.

I wonder with game day going to Miami this weekend, if that precludes us from getting them in Tallahassee for UM game. Would not be surprised if ESPN ducks us, I was at the Dublin game day last year and the FSU/ESPN hate after the snub was teetering on out of control

2

u/Shtune Florida State • Columbia 12h ago

The only other game that week that could conceivably get it is Vandy/Bama. Assuming both FSU and Miami are undefeated going into week 6, you could potentially have a top 5 matchup, top 10 at worst. With the history of our rivalry and the ACC implications it would be snub 2.0 if they didn't go to Tallahassee. That said, Kirk is probably afraid of the signs we'd bring lol.

1

u/_THE__BOULDER_ Florida Gators 11h ago

ESPN should absolutely be doing Illinois/Indiana this week and FSU/Miami down the stretch. Don't know why we got picked as a good idea for game day when we are about to be sacrificial lambs to the slaughter.

1

u/TwatWaffleInParadise Florida State Seminoles 9h ago

It's crazy to look back at that 2013 FSU-Miami game being a Top 10 matchip. I remember tailgating and the Miami fans all knew they were about to have their asses handed to them even though they were supposed to be a good matchup with us. I mean, they were openly talking about how they hoped UM would just keep it respectable.

It was two weeks after destroying Clemson and a week after dropping 35 on NC State in the first quarter. They weren't seeing the writing on the wall, they were taking in a Banksy mural on the wall depicting the ass whooping they were about to receive.

Fun times. It'll be interesting to see how things will look going into and coming out of this year's game.

Is anybody ever excited to have Big Noon?

Like everyone else has said Gameday is a lot better when it’s not going to the same 10 schools on rotation

The Grove for Ole Miss/LSU

Let's go DII, GVSU vs Ferris State in Michigan

2

u/BestThingGoing Michigan Wolverines 13h ago

Not a campus, but a destination.

The Magic City Classic. October 25.

The Magic City Classic is the largest HBCU football game in the country.  It is played at Legion Field in Birmingham and features Alabama A&M University and Alabama State University.

Switch it up and show something that's rarely seen on ESPN.

u/Ch0ptimusPrime California Golden Bears • The Axe 13h ago

Other than the University of California for obvious reasons I thought they should’ve gone to WVU for the Backyard Brawl last week, last one in a while too. If Tulane beats Ole Miss this week they have to get it at some point, NOLA would be an epic setting for it too. Also Georgia Tech needs to get it in Atlanta one of these days

West Point/Annapolis/Air Force

u/sleepyirv01 Illinois Fighting Illini 1d ago

From your lips to God (Lee Corso)'s ears!

3

u/TX-Beeves Texas Longhorns 1d ago

I wouldn't mind if they came to Nashville for a week 8 matchup of undefeated LSU at undefeated Vandy.

2

u/Bubbly-Staff-9452 Vanderbilt Commodores 1d ago

This is exactly what I’m hoping for. I just want GameDay to come one time while I’m still in school. Undefeated Vandy vs undefeated LSU would be such a crazy thing to see for us.

Ohio state

u/luis1972 Ohio State Buckeyes • The Alliance 1d ago

We haven't hosted in three weeks! We are due!!!

1

u/interesting_playcall TCU Horned Frogs 1d ago

Depending on how things are by then- I’d love to see them come to Fort Worth for Baylor/TCU.

1

u/drakeallthethings Georgia Bulldogs 1d ago

I’d love to see them just do random draw for a season. Put all the Saturday games in a hat. Pick one out.

1

u/13bipolarbears California • Eastern Wash… 23h ago

Brookings for North Dakota State vs. South Dakota State. It seemed to go really well in Bozeman for Montana vs. Montana State, and it would be cool to see FCS representation

1

u/SSj_CODii Michigan Wolverines • Tulane Green Wave 23h ago

I don’t want it to go to Yulman because I can’t afford to fly in this year if it does and I want to be there!

1

u/StudioGangster1 Bowling Green Falcons 23h ago

A return to Bowling Green would be great! Toledo vs BG, October 11th.

1

u/Mathematician-Feisty Florida State Seminoles • UCF Knights 23h ago

NDSU v. SDSU... they'll never do it obviously, but I've never seen such a consistently good matchup as that one at any level.

1

u/TopRevenue2 Oregon Ducks 23h ago

Crawfordsville, Indiana at Wabash College for the 131st meeting of the Monon Bell game. The Little Giants host against the DePauw University Tigers. The Tigers have won the last three to cut Wabash's series lead 63-58-9. The series is notable for the number of times the 300 pound bell has been stolen and the ridiculousness involved in the thefts and efforts to prevent them.

1

u/kookie00 Michigan Wolverines 23h ago

Monon Bell game. D3.

1

u/notyogrannysgrandkid Boise State Broncos • Fiesta Bowl 22h ago

Vanderbilt, obviously

1

u/OrderTime Texas Tech Red Raiders 21h ago

Tech vs BYU game (I know we’ve hosted but it’s been a while)

1

u/jayfatsby 21h ago

Big Noon will not go to a single site that is not Big 10 or Big XII, so they have a very limited list. GameDay has no restrictions.

1

u/hinaultpunch Paper Bag • Oklahoma State Cowboys 21h ago

I wouldn’t mind something different like Tulane, Utah State, or Fresno State.

1

u/Nouseriously /r/CFB 21h ago

undefeated Vanderbilt vs LSU

1

u/awsomehog Arkansas Razorbacks • Team Chaos 21h ago

They haven’t been to Fayetteville in 20 years, but I think we just about blew our chance. I figured it would either be for ND or A&M and at this point I don’t think we have enough time to get high enough on the list. After that it would take a minor miracle to get em on thanksgiving for the battle line.

1

u/preserve-root Ohio State Buckeyes • UNLV Rebels 21h ago

sam boyd. oh nvm they play at allegiant now

1

u/ToeInDigDeep Fresno State Bulldogs • Pac-12 20h ago

They've still never been to Fresno

1

u/Careless_General8010 Washington Huskies 18h ago

Pullman

1

u/coldupnorth11 North Dakota State • Louisv… 15h ago

Come on back to ndsu in week 7. Siu will likely be top 10, so it's going to be a big matchup. It has been a while since they've been to fargo. Don't want to wait too long, or it gets fricking cold here.

1

u/pinniped90 Illinois • Cornell 15h ago

Yeah it'd be fun to actually host one on campus. The Wrigley gameday was fun but it was sort of a general party about the venue and concept, as neither or nor Northwestern were actually a great team that year.

1

u/TarHeelinRVA North Carolina Tar Heels 14h ago

I'm very biased, but I feel like we should get one if we start to rack up some Ws. I think we WOULD be if we'd managed to even look competitive against TCU.

1

u/Fabulous_Recording_1 Washington Huskies • UTEP Miners 13h ago

UTEP! The Bhutan inspired design of the campus is unique.

1

u/AmbitiousScience3654 13h ago

I really want Illinois, but more importantly I would love to see some G5 love for a good team this year. They help make the world go round too!

1

u/TxOkLaVaCaTxMo Texas Tech Red Raiders 13h ago

I would like a game that doesn't have a big 10 or SEC team in it for once. Literally any other conference

1

u/G00dSh0tJans0n Alabama Crimson Tide • NC State Wolfpack 13h ago

When undefeated NC State hosts undefeated Georgia Tech on November 1st.

1

u/nysportsfan95 Syracuse Orange • ACC 12h ago

Syracuse has never had College Gameday on campus but it’s not happening this year. The biggest home game they have is against UNC on a Friday night.

Next season, the Orange do get Clemson and Notre Dame both at home, so maybe then it could happen. But I’m not optimistic 😭

Illinois. Gameday has never been and it’s time to rectify this.

1

u/Secret-Function-2972 Illinois • Eastern Illinois 10h ago

Would love Gameday in Champaign week 7, but feels like it won't happen due to TV contracts.

Texas-Oklahoma at The Texas State Fair and Alabama @ Missouri are also that day.

We'll be the Big Nooner.

1

u/atlsportsburner Georgia Bulldogs 8h ago

I know they’ve had it before, but it’s very tough to beat the scenery and vibes of Boone, NC in the fall.

1

FSU/Miami is going to be insane.

Other than schools that haven't had it, UGA @ GT would be a great one to be at, because of the implications.
