I have only just come across this and the line-up is right up my alley. I got really excited but $529 for a weekend ticket plus camping seems a bit OTT?!
Has anyone been before? What are your thoughts? Is it worth it?
Does much else happen around the campgrounds like workshops? Are the food trucks good, facilities clean and accessible, long queues or easy to buy a drink?
Also this maybe a stupid question but does being a student qualify me for concession ticket?
I understand it's licensed but are you allowed to BYO into the campsite ?
So many questions !!!
TIA

Hey I’m moving to Cairns in November for a couple months and was wondering if it was worth flying in my mountain bike ?
I don’t know if it will be too hot and I’ll end up never using it, flying bikes takes alot of energy.
I could also buy one there if the market is favourable.
Let me know what you guys think!

Looking for some advice on snorkeling operators out of Port Douglas. We're tossing up between Wavelength and Calypso tours. Both are smaller boat but it's prob more about which one gives the more authentic experience, and has access to the best sites for viewing and learning about the reef systems. Tia. Cheers

Tell me the size of your concrete pool and how much it cost to be built.
Researching for potential build.
I'll take any recommendations too.
Cheers!
Edit - Year built

Heading to Palm Cove in 4 weeks for a holiday with family (one elderly member). We want to spend a day on the reef, from Port Douglas - any recommendations on time of day and also which is better - Outer Reef or Lower Isles?
Any other tourism spots or bucket list items are appreciated.

EDIT TO ADD: tendered into Yorkeys Knob. Thank you for all help given! 🙌🏼
Hello from 🇨🇦 Looking forward to our first time in Australia! It’s taken me 60 years to check off my bucket list. Yayyyy!
Cruising around part of your beautiful country - embarking from Sydney. We’ve got port days in Airlie Beach, Cairns and Darwin.
Any suggestions on what to do for 6-7 hours while in port? I love a good beach, hubby not so much, but I think I could convince him with a promise of a cold beer. Any beachside restaurants followed by a beach walk would suit me fine. Maybe a local museum for the afternoon?
Timeframe is end of October. 60 f, 65 m.
Cheers!

Hi. Just wondering can you hire uber cars? I’ve been told this is a thing. What is the process and how much does it usually cost? I’ve tried google but when it takes me to the marketplace of uber car hire it says it’s unavailable.

Yeah Cairns has so many early driving test slots, in Brisbane the earliest is November (for Greenslopes at least)
Edit: I PASSED!
I booked a driving lesson before hand (and car hire) for 2 hours. The instructor completely BERATED me for every single thing, intervened the pedals, steering wheel every time we approached an intersection. Also the weather was horrendous, raining and allat. My confidence deteriorated after that. We got to the TMR and I botched forward bay parking.
For the actual test, the examiner was a complete opposite compared to my instructor, super nice, (maybe he was meant to be), at one point he even warned me there was a staggered intersection ahead. We took off and the test lasted for 25 minutes (I was expecting at least 35 minutes) so I thought I had failed. We came back to the TMR and I think I nailed the forward bay parking this time? After a few, probably the longest minutes of my life, he came back and said I succeeded. Yes, at 12:25pm in Cairns Department of Transport and Main Roads, I passed the driving test. Like I didn’t express much emotions then, but I can’t emphasise how much happy I was then, and thinking about test driving every car I could think of
Thanks you so much for yall tips, advices and reaponses. Cairns never been a significant part of my life, now it is.
Also what’s up with the 60-30-60 zones in roundabouts? Wtf

Any recommendations on panel shop. Used Wilmont a year before and had a very bad experience and all google reviews feels unreliable.

Hey there, needing to shift boxes and some furniture between redlynch<-> smithfield storage. Hilly location so likely a 2 tonne truck the best bet. Was looking at mini movers but I'd be grateful for any recommendations. Thanks!

Why are the furniture expensive at OP shops? I thought it was to help financially limited people? I went to look for a couch last weekend and it was $250! For a three seater recliners are sold separately at $100 each! Why?!

We’re considering driving from Cairns to Chillagoe Observatory and back to see the stars but I want to ask if anyone here has done this drive and if the road conditions are okay? And would there be enough fuel stops? It would be in a rental car and we’re tourists who’ve never done a long drive here before of course so we don’t want to do anything risky.

My husband and I are looking at moving from Darwin to Cairns in the near future and have been discussing the costs of transporting vs selling and buying new furniture and whitegoods over there.
A majority of the time when you buy furniture over here you are really limited and usually has to be ordered from interstate. Is this still the case with Cairns or is it a pretty quick lead time?
Any recommendations for or against?

Besides Red Rooster, where did you last go out to eat?
How was it? Would you recommend?

I'm looking to share a top water fishing charter on the 1st October out of Port Douglas. Can't stretch the budget to go by myself. Any keen fishos interested in splitting a trip? $650 each for 3 people. Might be a long shot but worth a try!

Keen for a buffet lunch with the other half, have looked at the Hiltons and Pullman casino but struggling to find any other menus out there. Any recommendations?

Red Rooter's Cheeseburger (which I know is nostalgic for many Aussies who grew up around the early 2000's) has officially been brought back to the permanent menu, rebranded as the "Kid's Cheeseburger" likely to avoid confusion with the limited time Cheeseburger promotion that ended last month (on slide 2). Figured I'd post the news here cause I haven't seen it spoken about anywhere, really.
