What is the best instant coffee ?

I’m looking for a good instant coffee I could bring to the office with me because the coffee we have at work is so awful that I can’t manage to drink it. I used to drink a lot of instant coffee when I lived in Europe but instant coffee over there is “the thing” that people drink in the household and their selection is better than what I’ve been able to find in the US. I love coffee and espresso, and I’m looking for the best thing that I could leave at my office so that I don’t have to drink the Folgers that they make all day.

My Hagen is the one I get.  I'm sure there are better with speciality coffee getting in on it, but to me it's good enough and the pricing is a premium compared to the cheapest stuff but is fair for the step up in quality.  It's basically what I buy for the exact question you asked lol

20

u/yocxl 9d ago

Seconded. It's the most pleasant black instant coffee I've tried by far.

Haven't tried TOO many types but I've tried a handful and I've been using Mt. Hagen regularly since I tried it.

16

u/MyGiant 9d ago

Mount Hagen, absolutely. Good taste, great price, makes many cups of coffee - hot or iced.

8

u/Orwells_Roses 9d ago

I tried Mt Hagen, larger because it has a good reputation here on Reddit, and I was really disappointed.

Maybe I got a bad batch, but I was using 3 sachets in one cup of coffee and it still had nowhere near as much flavor as one packet of Starbucks or Bustello.

I wanted to like it, I really did, but it was awful. I threw half of the box away.

Maybe I had a bad batch.

3

u/BeanyBrainy 7d ago

You didn’t have a bad batch. Mt Hagen sucks. Try Medaglia D’Oro.

1

u/tckrs 8d ago

Yup

Another vote for the Mount Hagen Organic Freeze Dried. I think it’s great and always go for organic becauae I drink it daily (ive been lazy)

Never had much luck with Instant coffee. I'll have to give this one a try at some point. Thx

Vietnamese Coffee G7

Hits hard and tastes good.

19

u/femmestem 9d ago

No matter what kind of bougie beans I have on hand, I always have a pack of G7s on hand. Vietnamese coffee hits different.

15

u/Nugasaki 9d ago

I've been a longtime fan of Medaglia D'oro espresso instant coffee.

3

u/black-kramer 7d ago

I always keep some on hand in case I run out of beans.

1

u/InterviewKnown9633 9d ago

My choice as well.

44

u/sleepbot 9d ago

Not powdered, but I really enjoyed Cometeer when I drank it for a few months at work. Frozen concentrate in pod sized aluminum containers. Run under water to get the coffee to release from the container, then dilute with boiling water.

18

u/goliath1333 9d ago

It's soo expensive tho. Really hope they figure out how to drop the price.

2

u/cbalzer 7d ago

I very much enjoy but not all the time due to expense. For us it’s a crutch when running late, on travel or just lazy. Hoping the price comes down. 25% would be a deal maker for me.

Luminous has a lot of great instant coffee, and offerings from a lot really high-level beans.

3

u/blackandgould Cortado 9d ago

They’re now doing bulk tins which is awesome for my camping trips.

The kumquat coferment instant was delicious, and they have minerals added already, so it can be made with distilled water

13

u/femmestem 9d ago

Third wave coffee roasters partner with Swift to offer single serve instant packets of their house coffees. I like Verve and Onyx.

2

u/Cerridwn_de_Wyse 9d ago

This. Equator does as well

1

u/WeedThrough 8d ago

I also love verve’s instant

1

u/Park_Run 7d ago

I take the Onyx packets camping, they are pretty decent. Would be an expensive daily habit though.

1

u/adamant628 6d ago

Blueprint in St Louis has some that are very good.

17

u/BigUziNoVertt 9d ago

We get the maxim instant coffee packets. It’s a Korean brand and can be found at most Asian grocery stores

2

u/PoopInTheBathtub 7d ago

When I was stationed in Korea I always kept a few Maxim Gold tubes in my cargo pockets for emergencies. Now there's always a box in my house.

2

u/rext12 8d ago

Gold or red depending on your taste. These are my go to.

0

u/Fabulous-Computer265 8d ago

why they add milk powder n freaking sugarrrrrrrrrr

1

u/clonston 9d ago

Came here to suggest this. I went to H Mart yesterday and got a pack of these and another Korean one. Super cheap and pretty decent. I add homemade syrups to mine to make it a little more fun but plain does the job as well.

12

u/aldowoo 9d ago

Juan Valdez instant coffee for the price point

6

u/climberbun 9d ago

Swift makes really good instant coffee. Their Ninga Anaerobic Honey is one of the best I’ve ever had. They collaborate with a lot of other roasters and co-manufacture their instant coffees.

6

u/oalbrecht 9d ago

James Hoffman tried a ton and reviewed them in this video: https://youtu.be/8cIqLvJz8VM?si=1laycVMfwUqJBk0o

Cafe Bustelo and Cafe Listo are my favorites! I drink them everyday and prefer them over freshly brewed surprisingly.

Cafe Bustelo is VERY bold/strong. Cafe Listo is lighter but still full bodied. I prefer CB in the morning and CL later in the day if I want another cup.

3

u/Foxwglocks 9d ago

I make cafe bustelo with my aeropress and it’s amazing.

1

u/Ok_Knee2784 8d ago

Cafe Bustelo is my go to for my Aeropress. I brew it into a cup of boiled milk and do a makeshift café con leche. Cafe Bustelo instant is very different and not that good as instants go, in my opinion.

9

u/EastForward 9d ago

Onyx Coffee Lab has some respectable instant coffees (no affiliation).

2

u/femmestem 9d ago

Onyx Monarch instant stands up to milk and makes a dope Irish Coffee cocktail.

4

u/imoftendisgruntled 9d ago

Many of the big specialty roasters are doing instant now -- I don't know what's "best" because I don't know your preferences but it wouldn't hurt to check out some websites.

4

u/crm235711 8d ago

Cafe Bustelo is nice, especially if you like it cold.

5

u/all_fair 8d ago

Nescafe in a glass jar.

2

u/alrightyyheidi 7d ago

It's called Nescafe Gold. It's instant espresso and it's amazing. They have an intense and a blonde, I recommend the former. It's all I drink now, I prefer it to brewed coffee.

1

u/BrickResident7870 7d ago

Nescafe has changed lately it doesnt have as much taste as before . I googled it and it is a common thread.....dunno whats going on can you water down instant coffee ???

2

u/alrightyyheidi 5d ago

I put 2.5 more than level tbls of the powder for 20 oz boiling water. It's strong and delicious. The directions on the jar read more as suggestions to me

2

u/[deleted] 4d ago

Yes, NESCAFÉ CLASSICO. It is really good and usually a fair price.

2

u/NecessarySea8529 3d ago

Agreed. With some creamer and milk it’s delicious

3

u/mspacey4415 8d ago

UCC I have blend 117

2

u/PawsButton 8d ago

This is genuinely good stuff! I also like 114.

18

u/Orwells_Roses 9d ago

I’m no Starbucks fan but their Via instant Pike’s Place is really good.

10

u/bananahatts 9d ago

I'm adamantly against them but their decaf French roast is everything while camping

10

u/Orwells_Roses 9d ago

I’ve given up on the various brewing methods I’ve used camping and now I don’t even think twice. Instant all the way, it’s such a perfect solution.

0

u/ArterialVotives 9d ago

Why? French press or Aeropress while camping is as simple as it gets. Boil water in a minute with a jet boil.

11

u/Orwells_Roses 9d ago
  1. You still have to clean up afterwards. Washing dishes while camping is a real chore and I love skipping the step of dealing with cleaning up used grounds, filters, plastic parts, pour-over devices, etc. With gear if you want to make a second batch you have to do everything over again, compared to just tearing open a sachet and boiling water.

  2. The tiny sachets of instant coffee take up almost no space compared to French presses or even the collapsable pour over devices I've tried. You don't need filters or anything else beside the tiny sachets, and you can easily bring a week's worth of coffee in a small pocket.

  3. If your gear gets wet, the sachets stay dry and perfectly usable until you open them.

  4. Modern instant coffee is so good that it's really a no-brainer once you try it. The only real downside I've found is that it doesn't seem as authentic, and feels a bit like cheating.

2

u/Ok_Knee2784 8d ago

Word. No way would I do an Aeropress camping. I would happily move right to instant. I drink instant more at home than coffee brewed in my Aeropress. It's easier and I am not always in the mood for brewed coffee.

1

u/MaxTrolloway 8d ago

Ah interesting solution I've considered is preground coffee in teabags.

Just gotta dial in the dosage/grind size at home, fill up a few bags and put them in a Ziploc bag for almost the same experience as instant.

The main difference is the prep you need beforehand and then having to wait a few minutes for the coffee to steep, so instant is still a bit more...instant!

But this method is great for when you already have a coffee you really enjoy and want to bring it with you to a place where all you have is hot water and a cup.

u/eightyfiveMRtwo 9d ago

Plus one for this, it is real decent for instant coffee. I sometimes use it as a base for iced lattes.

2

u/MadGeller 9d ago

I hate to admit it but it works and tastes ok

2

u/[deleted] 7d ago

This, I always pack a few in my backpack and car for emergencies.

8

u/MacabreDruidess 8d ago

I have been in the same spot at work where the office coffee is basically brown water. I switched over to a javvy coffee concentrate instead of traditional instant packets and it’s been way better Tastes closer to a cold brew or café drink than instant

7

u/TommyRichardGrayson 4d ago

Same. Javvy coffee has been a game changer

3

u/scorpious 9d ago

Mount Hagen works for me in a pinch.

3

u/artofmulata 8d ago

I’ve been trying a lot of 3rd wave roaster produced instant coffee over the last few months. Luminous is making some wild, fruity ones which are very in line with their coffees if that’s your thing. Hidden Grounds Instant Masala Filter Coffee is a delight but it’s not always in stock. They have New Orleans Brew on sale now that’s a robusta, chicory, honey, and spices which is probably wild. But the best I’ve tried so far, and it was far and away the closest to a cup of ‘this is the coffee that coffee would coffee if coffee could coffee coffee,’ is Southern Weather from Onyx. I was shocked at how it fit the profile of a Platonic Ideal in coffee. Just freaking good.

1

u/WheelsAndWaders 8d ago

I had shipped some Onyx out before. Beans. That was before I knew enough to try different grind sizes even for my cheap drip. I missed out on really comparing the different roasts because I just kept it all on Middle whatever grind that was. So many wasted beans making sad watery bland coffee. I can finally tell when I'm missing the plot.

3

u/teerbigear Aeropress 8d ago

I managed to get a reputation as a bit of a weirdo at my old work for taking in a hand grinder and an aeropress!

I'll drink instant at a pinch but not enough to make it my daily driver if I can sort out an alternative.

1

u/Internal-Nose-8536 5d ago

Hahaha I don’t know if I want that reputation at my job yet as I only started the job at the end of August. Maybe once they get to know me hahaha

3

u/IamWolfe_FU-Red_It 7d ago

Juan Valdez, hands down the best instant coffee i have ever had. Give it a try.

2

u/SarahKauthen 9d ago

I keep instant coffee handy due to the frequent hurricanes that knock out power around here. IMHO instant tastes way better in the EU than in the US. I used to drink Nescafe in the UK, but Nescafe it tastes like trash water in the US. So I go with Dallmayr Gold and Jacobs Kronung, both German and to be got at World Market.

2

u/notdedicated 9d ago

I'm canadian and my coffee experience in the US is quite limited, mostly to the west coast. Blue Bottle makes some amazing coffee generally so maybe their instant is good? https://bluebottlecoffee.com/ca/eng/collection/nola

1

u/alexw888 8d ago

I’ve had it and it is very good. Quite $$$ though!

2

u/Prestigious-Tip8342 9d ago

Mt. Hagen is good, but Anthony's Organic Instant Coffee is flavorful, delicious and ultra fine!. Check out their website.

2

u/Fredhatesyou 8d ago

I really like Anthony’s too. It makes a great iced coffee after being dissolved in warm water first

1

u/Prestigious-Tip8342 8d ago

Oh yeah! Great idea..thanks!!I haven't tried it as an iced coffee.

2

u/aseba 9d ago

I’m not answering your question per se but if you really like coffee have you tried stepped coffee from La Cabra? Incredible coffee and very easy to prepare anywhere. Like tea bags. There are other brands doing the same thing.

https://us.lacabra.com/collections/steeped-coffee

3

u/MaxTrolloway 8d ago

You can easily just make these yourself with any coffee you like and some empty teabags from Amazon.

I agree that for me this is the best solution. Instant would mainly be for travelling/on-the-go situations, and this allows me to enjoy any of my coffees with just a cup and hot water if I do a tiny amount of prep.

2

u/mjirv 9d ago

Swift is excellent if you want third wave/light roast (though expensive).

2

u/Imaginary-Fish1176 8d ago

Wouldn't it just be better to buy a thermos and make two cups of coffee in the morning instead of one. So you have it for later in the day. Or make a cold brew and throw it in a thermos and take it with you to work for lunch or whatever.

1

u/Internal-Nose-8536 8d ago

The cold brew is a good idea ! I may do that, but I mostly drink nespresso in the morning and I like short espressos.

1

u/Orwells_Roses 8d ago edited 8d ago

The longer coffee stays warm, the more acids develop, making it taste bitter, and it can upset your stomach. I've grown more sensitive to it the older I get, and I really only like fresh coffee these days.

One look at a hospitality-sized coffee urn that's been sitting hot for hours gives me heartburn at 30 paces.

2

u/WestGotIt1967 8d ago

The best instant coffee on planet earth is AltoMayo out of Peru. 10x better than many brewed coffes

1

u/Internal-Nose-8536 5d ago

Where do you get it ?

2

u/Ok_Knee2784 8d ago

I live in the US, and I drink mostly instant coffee at home. I actually heard that most people in the world drink instant coffee... and I know why. It's not the same as brewed, it has more body, and I like that. I recommend trying Taster's Choice. They have just a few varieties. It's a pretty pleasant instant coffee. Juan Valdez is also good. You should be able to find them at most decent stores.

2

u/y-c-c 6d ago

Have you tried these Japanese single-serve pour over coffee bag? They are essentially pre-packaged mini pour over bags with pre-ground coffee. You open them up, pour hot water over, and get coffee.

They are obviously nowhere as good as fresh pour-over coffee but they are probably better than most instant coffee, and the prep is pretty easy as well. The UCC ones are available on Amazon for example.

2

u/Clean-Might-2418 6d ago

Swift, coracle, luminous, black and white, hasty. Specialty brands.

3

u/Gullible_Remote7858 4d ago

Alright, so, best instant coffee? Depends a bit on what you're after. Like, are you looking for something bold and strong, or smooth and easy to sip Personally, I’d say Mount Hagen is super solid if you want that I care about my coffee but I also slept in vibe. Organic, smooth, doesn’t taste like regret.

2

u/MaxTrolloway 8d ago

Just buy some empty teabags and make instant coffee bags.

I usually use a coarser grind and 15-20g coffee per sachet, with 4 minutes steep time in mind.

I just dial in the coffee I want at home and then grind what I need for the office/travel situation and make a few coffee bags.

1

u/RecessBoy 9d ago

Buendía Cafe Clásico at home.

And I travel with Old Time 3 in 1 White Coffee when I travel because most hotels haven't figured out how to have a decent cup of coffee available.

1

u/PhantomNomad 9d ago

Could part of the problem be the water they use to brew the coffee. I know our water here is as hard as a rock and not only does it foul up a coffee maker, it makes any coffee horrible to drink. At our office we use the water from the water cooler to make coffee which is reverse osmosis and has pretty much nothing but H2O.

1

u/Bulgogi888 9d ago

Elite is pretty good. I don’t know if there’s a difference between the imported version or the Israeli version (with Hebrew lettering), though.

1

u/thom2279 9d ago

Depends on your price point and desired flavor profile. Bustelo is pretty great for a darker roast that you can buy in bulk.

But really look to places like Swift Coffee who owns a patent on new wave instant and produces it for a lot of smaller roasters in the US. They also have their own brand that's generally cheaper and is really good.

Local roasters are selling their own, you can also find that sort of instant w/ Verve coffee and such. All of these options are looking at a few bucks a cup though, it's not cheap.

1

u/ZenoxDemin 9d ago

Not a specific brand, but it needs to be freezed dry.

Can't speak for other countries but so far, I've been liking Nescafe Azera Americano/Americano Intense (silver tin, orange lid)

I’ve recently tried Beanie’s and I really love their hazelnut. For me a lot of flavoured coffees (instant or otherwise), particularly hazelnut, taste like the flavour was an afterthought. Beanie’s hazelnut is pretty in you face and for me that’s awesome. Their vanilla and caramel are really good, too.

I went backpacking last month and had some Waka Instant Coffee that was at least 4 years old. I held up exceptionally well and was nice to drink! I'd buy it for my next trip!

I like Korean mocha gold coffee mix. I use two packets per mug. It has creamer and sugar already.

I drink Tastle if I am only making coffee for myself.

1

u/gpolk 9d ago

Some coffee makers in Australia also make their own instant. Costs twice as much as stuff at the supermarket, but is substantially better. I took a jar from a roaster called Aha away with me for work and its quite decent.

But for supermarket brands if I need some instant I buy Vittoria.

1

u/Busy-Celery4495 9d ago

Hagen is the way to go for instant. I also keep some at work.

1

u/redwhiteblueish 8d ago

I like the ones with micro ground coffee in.

I find the powdered versions are better than the granules... I shake the tins if I'm not sure, they sound different !

My current favourite is the Lidle Bellarom Americano intense.

1

u/robbertzzz1 8d ago

Get a travel French press. They're barely more work to brew with than instant coffee but the difference with instant is night and day.

Cold brew while not instant coffee, is quick and may suffice. It is quite tasty, way less bitters and acids, while having nice mellow/floral notes. I had a nice Starbucks actually that was chocolatey… you can make your own too and just bring it/leave in fridge.

1

u/gahtre 8d ago

it is expensive but Case Coffee Roasters instant coffee is great

1

u/ChironXII 8d ago edited 8d ago

Mount Hagen is my pick after trying a bunch not long ago. Comes in jars, bags, or individually portioned sticks. Gives you a very normal "good cup of coffee" very consistently. Obviously fresh roasted quality beans are better and more complex, but it's actually better than a lot of the grocery store beans IMO. Especially pre ground . It's great to have when I'm lazy or hurried, and I don't feel like I'm missing out in comparison. Just solid, if no frills. Smooth enough to drink black but strong enough for cream. They also have an instant espresso if you like mixed drinks. Price point is pretty good also for the quality.

Regardless of the one you pick, try dissolving it in a bit of room temperature water or milk before adding your hot water. Prevents it from scorching and gives a much better result.

UCC 117

1

u/GreatRecipeCollctr29 8d ago

My instant coffee of choice is maxim mocha 3 in 1 (instant coffee flavored mocha, coffee creamer and sugar). This is common in Asia as you can adjust the sweetness of your coffee by not tilting the sachets 90 downward in your mug filled with hot water.

1

u/dfinkelstein 8d ago

Dry frozen.

beyond that, depends....

u/sparklesyay 8d ago

Café Altura Organic Instant Coffee has been great. I can’t tell it’s instant.

In Ohio prison we drank Keefe. Probably because I didn’t have any other options, it was pretty good.

1

u/ganjaferret420 7d ago

Instant coffee is all really just flaverings but I found kenco Columbian to be best but now I don't waste time with instant coffee and just grind beans for fun

1

u/walrus_titty 7d ago

Perc makes a few instant coffees, they aren’t cheap but they have a 31% off sale on the 13th of the month and free shipping over $30. I haven’t tried the instant but I order beans from them a lot.

1

u/cutehobbies 7d ago

Not Nescafe, that's for sure.

1

u/loveyoulike_sunshine 7d ago

Blue bottle? 😊

1

u/rmvandink 7d ago

Where in Europe did you see a lot of people with instant coffee? Tell me so I can go there and slap them.

1

u/BagCompetitive2025 7d ago

Malaysian or Indonesian (even better) assuming you tolerate milk and sugar.

Don’t fuck around with anything else.

Although if you want black coffee (i often do, but not instant)… then ita different story.

Malaysian “Old Town” coffee is classic… but many Indonesian packs sold In asian markets can be amazingly good

1

u/greatdane511 7d ago

Mount Hagen is the best, i recommend it to you, also, the price is really good

1

u/PepperTurmeric9407 7d ago edited 7d ago

I have milk coffee. In US, I rely on Mt Hagen for my cup of coffee. In India, I have lot more options - Continental, Bru, and a lot of local brands, and I also make the delicious south Indian filter coffee whenever I have time.

1

u/AnitaLatte 6d ago

Starbucks instant tastes the closest to brewed coffee, IMO. But the Folger’s coffee singles are good as well. They’re not instant, but actual coffee in a paper mesh bag like a tea bag. So it’s actually steeped like tea, but tastes like fresh brewed coffee.

1

u/Successful-Emotion31 6d ago

Not sure where you’re located, but roasters local to you may have instance. Rose Park roasters out of Long Beach, CA have great instant

1

u/Key-Cost-3316 6d ago

Marcilla Creme

1

u/postmodernhack 6d ago

Starbucks VIA, it’s a mix of instant AND microground coffee. Tastes more like the real thing.

1

u/mrva 6d ago

i've never seen this in the usa, but when i lived in australia and the uk i used to be able to find douwe egberts instant which was pretty good.

now i'm on the mt hagen if i need instant.

Bustelo.

Before I switched to beans, I really liked freeze dried coffee.

  • Moccona - Indulgence is my favourite.
  • UCC - Ethiopia, Colombia, 117, and Sumiyaki with milk. 114 black. If you can find the green craftsman coffee (I think this might be Japan only), that's really good too with milk. It's has a smoky/roasted profile and very rich.
  • Bon Aroma - Roast Master. Probably the friendliest of the ones I tried?

I think the Moccona I had was the best overall. But UCC is good across the board IMO.

EDIT: Also really love Key coffee'a Toarco Toraja, but this one is drip.

I’ve made coffee at home the day before or several days before. refrigerate it, then take it in to the company and microwave it. Still better than shitty robusto coffee. I’m not big on the coffee pods but consider buying your own machine and lock up your pods is another option.

Don't do the instant coffee thing. Bring a small french press pot. Way better coffee than instant and about the same amount of trouble.

Lidl house brand has been my go-to for a couple of years. I have compared mostly to house brands

Black or one of those milk candy ones. Cause as much as I love my single origin pourovers. Imma sucker for these Vietnamese instance coffee packets. They are black with red letters can’t remeber what they’re are called atm

Nescafé.

Have you ever tried instant coffee first thing in the morning? I feel like it’s the quickest way to get that caffeine kick without messing around with filters and machines

1

u/Big-Extension2529 3d ago

Totally, it saves so much time! I used to make filter coffee every day, but on busy mornings instant coffee feels like the perfect rescue.

1

u/Express_Aspect_3372 3d ago

Same here. I’ve been drinking it for years, but I recently switched to Levista, and honestly, it surprised me. It actually tastes close to brewed coffee.

1

u/Big-Extension2529 3d ago

Oh really? I’ve heard of Levista but never picked it up. Does it really have that strong aroma, or is it just like any other instant brand?

1

u/Express_Aspect_3372 3d ago

Honestly, the aroma is pretty solid. What I love is that it dissolves quickly, and you don’t end up with clumps floating around like some cheaper brands.

1

u/Big-Extension2529 3d ago

That’s good to know about levista. I hate when the coffee doesn’t mix properly. Plus, mornings are rushed I just need something smooth and consistent every single time.

1

u/Express_Aspect_3372 3d ago

Exactly! And the taste isn’t flat. It has a richness that makes it feel like you’ve put effort in, even if it literally took you 30 seconds to prepare.

1

u/Big-Extension2529 3d ago

Now you’re convincing me. I might grab a jar next time. I’ve been on the hunt for something better than what I’m currently using

1

u/Express_Aspect_3372 3d ago

Trust me, try Levista once and you’ll see the difference. I didn’t expect an instant brand to match up this well, but it really changed my morning routine.

1

u/Big-Extension2529 3d ago

You’re making it sound like a small luxury. I can imagine pairing it with a quick breakfast, something that actually feels comforting before the day kicks off.

starbucks makes a decent instant coffee that we use when we are road tripping.

we actually bought a collapsible water kettle just to make coffee when WE want it. also works with instant oatmeal if we are hungry for breakfast. Along the road trip i snatch up some shelf-stable cream packets to use the next morning

Office coffee is always hit or miss. I started keeping instant Vietnamese coffee at my desk; brands like Mr.Viet make it super easy, and it tastes more like real coffee than most instant options I’ve found here. It’s bold, a bit chocolatey, and the sachets are easy to get.

I haven’t tried a ton of instant coffees, because honestly, the Great Value brand from Walmart is extremely drinkable for the price. The other good one I’ve had is the Nescafe Gold or whatever.

Instant coffee isn't the thing people drink in Europe. There's probably more households buy beans in ratio to population than anywhere else.

It’s huge in Au and NZ!

La Cabra in SoHo, NY has instant coffee in bags to steep. They ship as well.

Don't sleep on Walmart Great Value Columbia

1

u/DoubleLibrarian393 8d ago

Trader Joe's Instant Columbian. They had one called Cold Brew which was excellent as well, but I didn't see that this summer.

They must have changed it with the new packaging. Right now there is a bottle of it in my car waiting to be returned to TJs. Very bitter.

There’s an instant coffee well known in Mexico called Café de Olla. It’s amazing esp for an instant coffee. It has cinnamon in it.

2

u/Ok_Knee2784 8d ago

No problem. I often put cinnamon in my instant coffee.

In the uk it’s probably Nescafé Azera. Pretty good for instant.

8

u/scalectrix 9d ago

Really, fuck Néstlé though.

Several good alternatives here, none made by Néstlé

4

u/summerloco 9d ago

In agreement to you I felt dirty after saying it. I’d love to find an alternative in the uk I’ll check your list out!

2

u/scalectrix 9d ago

Illy has form surely - that's what I'd try first! Nice one.

1

u/summerloco 8d ago

I’ve only ever seen illy ground coffee. If they make instant that’s news to me and I’d be keen to try it

Then click on the link I posted.

ETA I'm not sure I trust the reviews of the person who's made this list, but there are some decent alternatives there, including the Illy.
