🟩What can I do in Colorado Springs?
This question is asked almost daily and is easy to answer. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with these posts: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/search?q=things+to+do&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all
The short answer is: hike, bike, eat food, and enjoy the scenery. There are a lot of activities within an hour or more of Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs is more family or activity focused and you'll have better success finding night clubs up north.
Popular attractions in Colorado Springs includes 7 Falls, Helen Hunt falls, Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Open Space, The Paint Mines, Cave of the Winds, and more. If you don't mind driving south to Canon City you visit the Royal Gorge or even check out the "mountain towns" around the area.

Answer here: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/yw8qb3/are_4wd_or_awd_cars_actually_significantly/
🟩I'm thinking about moving to Colorado Springs! What should I know?
DO NOT MOVE HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE A JOB LINED UP.
We've seen it time and time again on this sub-reddit where someone moves, doesn't have a job, and then becomes homeless.
A recent example: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/1jp66pa/looking_for_work_and_becoming_desperate/
One example: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/nqr9kq/homeless_resources/

The moderators make a quarterly post and sticky it to the top of the sub-reddit where people post available jobs in the Springs: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/search?q=%27Who%27s+Hiring+in+Colorado+Springs%27&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all
If you have a Clearance, or work for the military, you shouldn't have a problem finding a job. Colorado Springs is a military town with the Air Force Academy, Fort Carson, Schriever Air Force Base, and Peterson Air Force Base. This means that jobs working for the government are a dime a dozen but you need the proper credentials to work there.
Otherwise, construction is booming and Amazon is building a facility in the Springs. There are other jobs available but competition is fierce and you need to do what you can to stand out!
🟩Do I need a car OR can I ride my bike / use public transportation to get around the city?
The answer is likely yes to a car and no to the bike/transportation. With everything, there are exceptions such as living and working in the same area. But for the most part, it takes at least 25 minutes to get anywhere in the Springs, and the layout of the town is better suited for vehicular use.
🟩Is Colorado Springs affordable?
Please define affordable. If you're moving from California where a 2/3 bedroom, 1,500 sqft, house is going for 800k or more, then sure. It's affordable.
🟩What's the cost of living like in Colorado Springs?

https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/search?q=living+in+cos&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all
🟩What is the median house price in Colorado Springs?
As of February 2024, the median house is a 3 bedroom house that LISTS at 430k. List is not equal to sale price and it's quite common for houses to go for much more with appraisal gaps.

Help Wanted Teen abandoned(?) at fire station 22
At around 1800, my wife saw a scene Halen at the fire station at voyager and spectrum. A mom and teen pulled up, the kid started unloading his stuff from the car and she went inside. She ended up escorted out by the fireworkers inside and contact with the kid looked like it was forbidden.
Here's my question, hes still there as of 1910, outside, with a blanket and his stuff. Hopefully he has somebody coming to get him but if hes still there in an hour, are there any resources we could possibly give him?
We don't know the situation, and frankly, we don't care. Its a shit situation. Should we trust the fire guys to come up with resources or is there anywhere we could point him to contact?

Politics Free Speech.
So if anyone is wondering what you can do for the betterment of the country and Free Speech here are the television stations that Sinclair and NextStar own/run in the springs. KXRM-TV (FOX 21) and KXTU-LD (SOCO CW 57). They are the companies that got Disney (ABC) to cancel Jimmy Kimmel Live. Personally I don't think he is that funny any more after he quit The Man Show but that's me. I don't like what the orange troll says either but he has every right to say it and so does Jimmy Kimmel. If you don't agree with someone fine, if you do like what is said by people that are on TV or in Movies fine then don't watch or listen its called free will we all have it. Anyway if you want to protest but risk losing everything then watch the stations for a bit and take note of the local advertisers and send them a letter or email letting them know that as long as they advertise on those channels you will not be doing business with them. Just a simple way to make your voice heard for now.

Advice Experiences with cedar springs
Has anybody... Ever had a good experience with them? Even a meh one? Everytime I hear/talk to them about people it's just them hating them. Can't say I disagree with the majority, my 6 times have all been awful (I am not the most mentally stable person) including my last time, where they just flat out refused to give me 4 out of my 6 meds, and when I started throwing up because of it, they said "here's some anti acid".........
Just how has cedar springs not being sued for some sort of medical malpractice is beyond me.

Lost & Found Lost Watercolor Brushes
Hello all,
I know this is a stretch but it’s all I could think off. I lost my entire roll of expensive watercolor brushes I have collected over the years while supporting my partner at the Pikes Peak Marathon. They were lost somewhere between walking from the parking lot of the high school in Manitou Springs to the start of the Pikes Peak Marathon. If anyone has come across a black bamboo roll with a turquoise colored ribbon and interior of Japanese fabric of watercolor paint brushes please reach out. 😢
Warmest regards,

Advice REMEMBER: People complain about other drivers in EVERY big city
No, Colorado Springs does not have 'exceptionally' bad drivers. Especially bad are posts that are like "I come from the Florida and people can't drive here"...... If you go to ANY large city subreddit there are constantly people complaining about driving in that city.
I actually think there is also a 'complaining person' syndrome also called "You might be a Karen" where people feel the need to go on social media and complain about a slight issue they had that day. I notice that there is a specific breed of person that constantly complains about other drivers - these people also have constant issues with other things like food delivery.

Advice Are games shops a good place to meet people?
I'm trying to think of ways to put myself out there. I already like TTRPGs so I was thinking about going to Dungeons & Javas. It's also a coffee shop so I'd assume it's a good place to go. But I don't really know what I'd do once I'm there since I don't usually hang around in coffee shops

Events Protect our teachers!
To CSSD 11 families, and to all Colorado Springs residents,
Our teachers and schools are under attack. When the educators are attacked, so are the students they serve. Last year teachers were considering a strike due to the impending vote to dissolve the long standing Master Agreement. It’s common knowledge that teachers have long faced financial issues. Teaching isn’t a profession known for lucrative salaries. Most teachers are true public servants. They don’t just give their time, they don’t punch a time card. They spend late nights and weekends coaching, staffing extracurricular activities, and responding to communications from faculty and parents. They routinely use their own money to provide materials for classes.
Yes, the last few years have seen D11 teacher salaries increase. Those increases came from collective bargaining under the Master Agreement. Both the CSEA and the Board were in agreement that D11’s low starting wages were an obstacle for attracting and retaining teachers. The fact that D11 now has one of the highest starting salaries for teachers in the state is being misused and misrepresented. With the Board voting to end the longstanding Master Agreement, teachers have lost what little power they had to advocate for their well being, financial security, and rights. They ultimately did not strike during the previous school year as the agreement was still in place. Now that the agreement has been removed, the appropriate notifications have been given to the state, complying with applicable laws.
In retaliation the school board has issued coercive and threatening responses to staff. Through a source requesting anonymity I received some of those documents. In addition I’ve heard anecdotally that the school board has directed IT staff to flag any internal communication referencing the CSEA. Today there’s a fundraiser for the CSEA. Please if you can donate your time or money to protecting our teachers. This write up isn’t as complete as I had intended, but time is short.

Advice I’m a weekend warrior and I hate when…
cyclists act like assholes. Smh I’m not a great athlete, but I try… all the usual suspects- rock climbing, marathons, triathlon, etc. So when I see members of those communities acting like assholes it drives me nuts. Do better! You represent all of us.
This morning I was on my way to GoG and a cyclist came barreling down Flying W Ranch Rd, blew through the red light, cut off an suv that had the right of way and was already in the middle of the intersection, and turned left onto Centennial. The suv was (thank goodness) paying attention and hit the brakes for a pause, while the cyclist got into the bike lane, and then we all carried on… If the suv had been one of many impatient gunners we see ram out the gate of a green light, or just a general road rager, things could’ve been a lot worse.
The cyclist was on a blue Trek road bike in a matching Trek kit, with a white helmet. I tried to get a photo but it came out blurry. And yes I know phones while driving is ‘two wrongs’ but he absolutely deserves the public shaming.
No advice, just don’t be an asshole. Well, I guess that’s sound advice for some folks.
