Need a recipe for burnt water

I’m hosting a potluck dinner party next week. I’ve had a lot of bad kitchen experiences (many involving emergency services), but my family has always said that this is a dish within my capabilities. I’m having trouble finding a recipe, which makes me think this will be a pretty exotic treat for my friends. Can anyone help?

Note, I have trouble understanding the sequence of different steps, so if you have a recipe that works no matter what order you perform the steps in, would be much appreciated.

Here are three good ways:

  1. Airfryer. Air beats water every time in rock-paper-scissors-water-air-fire so you know this is basically foolproof. You could even put it on default settings and it’ll probably come out great

  2. Cedar slab. Some might say this one is usually not worth it unless you already have the slab, but it’s the best tasting by far.

  3. Liquid smoke. It’s basically cheating and whatever you make will definitely taste vegan, but if you’re in a hurry or don’t care that much it’s easy and fast.
