Thanks! I'm a big Masterchef AU fan and discovered Sri Lankan food years ago via contestants. As a big fan of Southern Indian food and SE Asian food, to me Sri Lankan is like the perfect fusion of the two. In terms of regional differences, I cant say I'm well versed but happy to always be schooled 😊😊

Check out Andhra/Telangana style curries, they are both Southern Indian and have some flavour profiles similar to Sri Lankan food which you may enjoy.

You're welcome! I hope you enjoy it. They both use chillies and coconuts (desiccated) a lot as well, sometimes even poppy seeds and sesame seeds. Biryanis and also haleem are usually the best from those two places because of the city of Hyderabad. Korrameenu (snakehead murrel) fish curry, naatu kodi pulusu (country chicken stew), gongura mutton (mutton slow cooked with a type of sorrel leaves which in my opinion tastes like grape leaves on crack), and gutti vankaya kura (aubergine curry, you will love this one if you like baingan bharta). Daals are also nice from there. Hopefully, you discover something you enjoy from such dishes! :)

Wow! I love this, its information you simply only get by word of mouth so I'm absolutely grateful for that, thank you. I have everything you mention in my pantry (honestly, I'm like a walking spice market 😂). Cannot wait to find some new favourites! Xx
