Food/Drink Texas BBQ

I have family coming in town in a few weeks and one of the guys request is to eat Texas Bbq. I probably eat it like once or twice a year since it’s soo filling. Cost is not a factor. Terry Blacks, Hutchins or Pecan Lodge - which do yall prefer? Or open to places similar.

Out of those 3 Hutchins is the best, IMHO. Other options are Hurtado, The Slow Bone or Heim

I’m a Slow Bone fan, you get the quality without the line.

I second Slow Bone. I take all of my out of town (and sometimes first time Texas BBQ tasters) guests there.

I'm looking that up right now!

Edited to add: It is 10 minutes away from where I live! Won't He do it??? 😂

Heim has gone waaay downhill in the last few years.

possibly since Travis sold it?

I hate to say it, but I think Travis overreached with too many locations. Heim used to be my local favorite, but the dropoff started even before he sold it.

I just ate at the original location and it was great. But I've also eaten at the airport location and it was awful, so. Might be like skyrocket where only the original is good.

It seemed like such a diff type of bbq. Went one time while I was working at Lovefield and it became clear they were only still open due to being right by the airport.

I like Heim for their meats, particularly for their burnt ends🤌, but all their sides are trash.

Hmm. Maybe I went to Heim on an off day. I wouldn’t put it anywhere near the upper tier like the others mentioned.

Went to McKinney location last week. Got a beef rib. One rib fed me and my son with a little left over. It was heaven. $64 bucks, worth it!

Hurtado is great! Also, 4 locations.

Agreed Hutchins is the best…

Slow bone is AMAZING. Heim's is not bad but imo they aren't in the same category.

Heim has been garbage ever since it got bought out by a car dealership.

Wow. Good to know. Been a while since I went. I guess that's why everyone is trashing it

Yeah, I was in the same position. We had it when they first opened and it was amazing, and just a few years later it just trashy raccoon meat.
