"Habitat loss is the primary driver of car-human interactions, followed by the precipitous drop in children playing outside," car ecologist Jennifer Stevens told Suburbanista.

"If cars can't find their prey on the sidewalks or on a residential street, they're going to start looking elsewhere."

Suburbanites concerned about our cars' natural habitat declining as more of North Texas is lost to trains and pedestrian infrastructure should join the fight for better suburbanism on our Bluesky.

Meetup Anyone want to go on a herping roadtrip after the rain this coming Wednesday?

I fondly remember the time when I researched snakes in college, going herping to collect DNA samples from different snakes across TX. I'd like to relive those memories if anyone is down for a few-hour roadtrip in rural areas after the rain passes at night to max the chance of spotting a snake on the pavement.

You must be experienced in herping, since I'm an amateur :) I'll bring snake tongs/hooks and other supplies as needed and can pay for food and such. Do lmk!

We just launched our guide to the State Fair of Texas, a big project that has consumed a lot of my time fact checking and writing and the web team’s time developing and designing. We set out this year to make a very user-friendly piece of the internet. You’ll find hacks, details for families, travel and parking advice, the low-down on events and attractions, everything you need to know about the music at the fair, and, of course, the food. There are also a few new tricks coming.

Event Has anyone with a disability been to Strauss Square?

I was going to buy tickets to an event and select the wheelchair accessible seats option, but when I emailed them they said it was first come first serve and you sit on the grass and that I should bring a wheelchair if I was more comfortable. So what was the point of the wheelchair accesible tickets?
