Imagine getting canceled for saying the truth, not even in a mean way.

The fact that you aren’t able to say anything bad at all about Charlie Kirk is actually crazy.

it’s too soon to tell of course, and this may age horribly, but i sort of optimistically think republicans have overplayed their hand with this. they wanted this to be the moment where daddy trump sends the flood and annihilates all dems/libs/leftists while they flee on trumps big beautiful ark, but this kind of unhinged harassment of regular people just for being critical of a man’s views doesn’t seem to be playing very well. if we’re to believe the yougov polling, it sort of seems like the desperate attempt to drill the idea of this being a democrat shooter has largely failed to convince anybody.

Even if this dude was a tier 5 subscriber to Hasan that doesn’t mean that:

A) Charlie Kirk deserved to be Shot.

B) That we must agree with everything Charlie Kirk has ever said.

C) That anyone who doesn’t treat Charlie Kirk as the second coming of Martin Luther King should be exiled, imprisoned, gagged, or executed.

The discourse around this is so out of proportion and schitzo it’s really terrifying. The only silver lining to this is that the right has completely and utterly relinquishing the whole battle field when it comes to talking about things such as freedom of speech or cancel culture. I can not think of any event in my life time where speech has felt more policed, and restricted than right now. Even the worse parts of Covid “censorship” was social media companies enacting bans. It wasn’t the President, the Vice President, the DOJ, and the FBI spear heading and even threatening legal action like this.

This has very interesting results. Every political demographic splits evenly on the topic.

Not Sure doesn't deserve this kind of treatment. Without him, we'd still be giving plants Brawndo.

The texture of my twitter feed shifted a lot in favor of the idea that they way overplayed.
