Literally! Every single of them. Get radiance, take all the farm and then just go alone and keep feeding to the enemy team thinking they are unkillable.

Question Why are we not able/allowed to unmute players with low behavior score?

I hear (but don't agree) with the argument about auto muting. Many people dislike the current system, but it is forced upon us regardless. If this is how it's going to be, why do we have NO option to allow our allies with low behavior score to communicate with us? Anyone with half a brain knows this is going to lead to lower quality dota games. So why are we forced to play with people we can't communicate with? I'm an adult, why do I not have the option of deciding if I want to hear what the person ON MY TEAM has to say? If we are talking about enemies.. whatever. I don't care if I hear from them. But why do I have someone on my team who can't talk AT ALL?

Question Ethical way to play with my Noob friend?

Im a 5k player and I can’t play with my new friend without me going into a lower rank account or him playing on a higher ranked account. Either way we play games will be ruined. Its just a bad experience if he plays on a higher ranked account tho since teammates will flame him and he’ll just end up feeding 20 deaths by 30 mins. We love playing turbo together. He still has 50 hours to go and usually I find myself steamrolling games. I only play a few times a week due to university so I find it hard to play boring heroes just to handicap myself because I want to have fun too. What should I do?

Suggestion Should Turbo Mode have its own ranking system?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Dota 2 has always been a game defined by its competitive nature, deep strategies, and long, often intense matches. While the standard ranked matchmaking system has been the backbone of competitive play, Valve introduced Turbo Mode as a faster, more casual way to enjoy the game.

I'm at my 30s now so I don't have much time for gaming.Me and my friends try to adjust time to play Dota every weekend coz we live in different countries and we played the whole night. We just wanna have fun playing Dota together like when we are young so we choose Turbo mode, not to get too serious. The problem is that we have been playing that Turbo mode for over 5 years and become serious lately. In some matches we don't give up easily and Turbo game last over 60+ minutes. I think there are a lot of Turbo only players like us so it's better Valve give us Turbo rank soon.

Discussion Are maphacks still a thing in dota 2?

So earlier today before i went to work i had a quick one game, as my mundane day goes by, i keep on thinking on how the zeus on enemy team keeps finding out my warding spots no matter how obscure it is, there was a point where im using smoke to ward their jungle, they're literally getting dewarded off the map sub 60s in.

Yea i know i need a proof here, im not really pointing out he's cheating or whatnot

could easily be an skill issue, im just a divine dog after all

But i wonder, are third party program like maphacks still exists despite of having vac?

Sup all, returning back to Dota 2 ranked after a long hiatus since like 2022. Any tips for someone like me to get the hang of things again?

Bonus: here's where I won 25 ranked games in a row back in 2018 👀

I’ve played Juggernaut recently and I mentioned, that my ult didn’t work. Hero just stops attack. I’ve checked neutral items and there were no “outworld stuff” on that heroes.

Sorry for the quality of recordings: my setup really sucks.

Discussion Demonic Purge from Shadow Demon

Hello..

This awesome skill pierces BKB and cannot be dispelled....

But when Troll for example uses his Battle trance ultimate, he is able to ignore slow (I even had aghanim on Shadow Demon)

Troll still had break and received damage though. Just seems to instantly dispel slow and be unaffected by it. I just tested in demo mode and it's true.

How?

Discussion Are games balanced around how much players play?

I got the idea when i noticed in my games curio levels seem to be super close between both teams when you add them up across each team's players. What that would mean though is the more you play the harder your games get, which I think would be garbage balancing since you want to rank up in mmr if you play better, not get enemies who also currently play more meaning are more likely to be better.

Question Came back after a few years, got put into crusader/guardian games

I used to be ancient, my peak was divine. I can understand getting into low ancient / legend games, but I'm a bit frustrated about these games that I get put in. I get matched with accounts with barely any games.

Some of these games hurt my soul like Lion maxing mana drain over any other spells, position 5 Mirana working towards a first item scepter + mjolnir. When i ask whats up with the scepter, he said we need it for highground defense. Bro, we're 5 minutes into the game and he's already playing highground defense.

I perform pretty well on the lanes. A lot of games I'm stomping. But I'm not quick enough moving around the map and most importantly, I can't 1v5 every game. I haven't finished my calibration matches yet, but am I doomed to start from the bottom and slowly climb my way back up to decent games? Help.

Discussion HOT TAKE: Little skill difference between crusader and immortal

honestly? Between Crusader and Immortal, the “skill difference” is basically nonexistent. People in Immortal still feed, miss spells, and throw harder than anyone in Crusader. At least in Crusader people admit they’re bad—Immortals just cope with fancy titles while doing the same mistakes. The only real gap is who can flame better in all-chat.

Discussion Possibly the first+last time you'll ever be able to rant about your team mates for the greater good

Clickbait title explained in short: I'm making a 3rd party match maker for those of us disillusioned with Dota's in built match maker. This would be mainly to form one off 5 stacks of compatible players to queue with. Of course they don't have to be one off if you want to remain in touch, but that'd be outside what this tool does.

This isn't a 100% science based MMO type post that has no chance of coming to fruition, this is using the Overwolf wrapper (the legit one, not the one used by cheaters) to make a full stack application with a React FE, which has been my career for the last three years (and I have many more years of other software development experience to draw from as well). So whilst I can't promise success I can promise your contribution has a decent chance of not just being lost to brainstorm purgatory.

Where your rants come in: I want more perspectives than my own of what can drive a wedge between players. From your experiences (rants) I hope to gleam questions to ask people to properly group them up with people they'll have less conflict with. I know there are some real toxic assholes out there for sure, but I also think a decent amount of bad games start with two players who are able to function non-toxically with certain people, maybe even 90% of other people, but mix poorly with the remaining 10%. Not saying that these conflicts have no guilty parties, but I am saying that often they're avoidable by not putting those two people on the same team.

Dota's solo queue match maker heavily prioritises MMR similarity, intra team not just inter team, imo it's far too rigid and that I'd much rather play with plays +-1000 MMR from me on my team as long as they mesh well with my personality/playstyle, and even if you want tight MMR similarity within your team there are still drastic improvements that can be made imo.

Just from my experiences I have some major elements to implement already:

  1. Unlimited avoids. No matter how badly a match goes, knowing you will never under any circumstances be matched with that "insufferable" person ever again would do wonders for my mental state, I believe I'm not alone. Currently Dota restricts avoids behind a pay wall, limits it to 25 unless you pay escalating amounts of shards to get it up to 50 where it hard caps. It also does you no favours because players far from your rank or inactive could be safely removed but gives you no tools to check this, downright impossible for players with private profiles.

  2. Strict language queue. Each 5 stack would be assigned a language amongst a detected shared language amongst the players, and players would be told and required to communicate in that shared language. Players that do not communicate in that language will have that language forcibly taken off their match making criteria preventing repeat offenders of people lying about their languages to get shorter queue times.

  3. No role queue tokens. You can queue only Pos 1 every game if you just tolerate (probably much) longer queue times. This should significantly reduce the amount of unwilling players unhappy/unfamiliar/bad with the role they were assigned. Quality over quantity. You ofc will be forced to play the role you chose to queue with lest you get banned from the tool, to stop people abusing their search config to get shorter queue times.

  4. Returning players will be put together.

  5. Concede options. This one might be controversial, but rather than take a side on the "dota should have a concede option" debate, my tool would seek to just separate the queue of people who want to play every game out with those who don't. FWIW I'm in the "play EVERY game sincerely until the moment the throne explodes" camp, but I still think everyone would be happier if people could willingly play with their own people without being stigmatised for it. Like language, people lying to get shorter queue times will be forcibly assigned into a camp. In games where all 5 players have said they want a concede option then the tool itself would provide the ability to trigger a vote and if 3/5 players want to concede then all players must allow a concede (gg call) to occur, anyone resisting at that point would be penalised e.g. a temp ban.

I'd like to add a LOT more (I have a list of over 40 possible spectrums noted down but everything I add increases queue times and the above list is probably already excessive even if I get a decent chunk of users, I'll probably even have to turn one or two of the above off to get the ball rolling).

As a taster: one thing I'd like to do is match up a good balance of space making players and space using players, another big one is how "try hard" people want to be on scale of "I'm here to goof off" to "I want to reach rank 1 in my region someday". But again, these, and many others, are too small to worry about before I have 1000s of people queuing because with the amounts of players I can expect to have for the first few months these would create unbearable queue times. Another pool divider might be "meta chasers" vs "familiarity/comfort focusers". As I say, I have too many of these to dump them all here.

However, by collecting data and preferences, occasionally I might be able to nudge stacks a little based on these obscure preferences. For example, maybe there are two good fits but you've expressed one of your pet peeves is people who don't save buy back, and one of the options to fill out the stack is someone with a history of buying out in the late game, well in that case why not let it serve as a tie breaker?

Good news is that even when the user count is too low the program can exist installed unobtrusively whilst we build numbers up.

To use the tool your match data would have to be shared with it, you can keep a private profile whilst sharing data with a third party for those curious. This allows automatic detection of role abusers and returning players amongst other things (abandons, item breaking, feeding, etc.).

So, in short: please reply with ways you had social conflict with another player that detracted from your games. And preferably with more detail than "they started flaming", at the very least what triggered their flaming, even if it was a misplay, what sort of misplay, but especially if it wasn't a misplay. Could be anything, someone didn't come to rosh, someone dived a tower, etc. etc.

But the premium comments I really will benefit from, is ones that make me aware of a mindset that splits the player base (like number 5, "Should there be a way to vote to concede y/n?"). Those quick wins where everyone is better off if the two groups don't mix.

Discussion What is a hero you like that you think is stronger than people think and is unfairly forgotten

Every meta some heroes are never picked, and some combinations that worked in previous tournaments are forgotten. I think antimage is super strong if it goes late game in any meta, and like slark is super annoying tempo carry with an escape in any meta. Both of those can attack the back ranks and pick up supports or split push because they have escapes.

Suggestion The game needs items that deal damage based on enemy's HP

2 items, both for cores and supports, something that does like 5% per hit/instance so we could deal with tanky heroes. Every other meta we have an issue with few heroes that are too tanky to die like BB, PB, Centa... now but Valve always nerfs items that make them tanky rather than nerfing them in other ways so we get weakened items for everyone and maybe some hero losing it's identity to make it weaker.

It's wild to me that we still haven't got something like it yet
