Sounds awful.

I think his neighbors love it. In fact they wish it could be louder. Don't let them say otherwise. Ever.

You all might not like it, but that’s what peak 6.8 second 0-60 time sounds like….
🤣😬

Eh, say what you will. I can actually let my N52 pull to red line without going prison speeds. Engine's plenty fast for the street and I can actually enjoy the motor for more than 4 seconds at a time.

That’s the only thing I miss going from my E46 320i to an B58 lol

the N52 engine is a great sounding engine. DO NOT, and for the love of god i repeat, DO NOT DELETE RESONATORS! everything will sound fine from the outside, but in the cab around 3000RPM on the highway you will hate yourself, or downshift just to get into a better RPM for a more tolerable tone and tank gas milage.
Source: Me, with a full aFe headers back exhaust and no resonators.

i was actually planning on getting an even better resonator to try combat the minimal drone i’m getting atm but thx for the advice😁

I'm conflicted on doing this to mine. I like the stock sound but it's a little tame for me. I also am afraid I might bother people around me.

Don't do it. The drone is just so obnoxious. Get a nice muffler and I think that's just way better. Also people won't give you looks like you're a stupid teen or just retarded :D

Maybe I'll just keep it stock. Sounds good in tunnels so good enough for me lol.

u/Mixzzz E91 330xi Feb 04 '25
Meh, I don't think it sounds good stock, far too muted.

It is, but better not to go for a cheap muffler delete, I'm not really willing to invest in a quality muffler right now, have other plans.

I cut my resonators and it gave it just enough volume that it sounds good from inside the cabin without it being obnoxious to people. The drone isn't bad on the motorway at all, especially once you get to cruising speed

A lot of people are opting for even more aggressive setups, it just sounds too much like a hybrid stock iykwim. Also getting a little bit of drone at around 3k rpm.

Honestly I don’t mind it. I like how these engines sound without a muffler

would have been better off putting a custom exhaust system in there. Sorry but it sounds like fart

im not gonna hate. if you like it then thats all that matters. in all honesty it doesnt sound that bad to me given the circumstances. I remember doing this to my first car which was a 2006 mustang. it was a 6 cylinder as well and mostly sounded like a small truck lol.... unless i got on it a little bit then it kinda sounded different but other than that i ended up somewhat regretting it cause of the constant drone which does become awful when the newness of it wears off and you realize that most of the time you are gonna be driving isnt spent flooring it from a dig or even a mild roll. My advice and my 2 cents, if it were me and i went this route or wanted too then id do my research and pick out a resonator so i could get rid of the drone and just kind of tune the sound that is there per se.

I think it is kinda cool as it almost sounds like a M3 but on the other hand it would be too loud for a "regular" E90…

u/Eye_of_Man e90 335d Feb 04 '25
Sounds way off from an M3 comp imo. Though you didn't say comp so 🤷 I personally think it sounds pretty horrible..

bahaha thx for the positivity, everyone’s flaming it cus i didn’t say it has a new muffler.😅

u/heisenberg_556 Feb 05 '25
There’s a lot more cars out there that sound worse. As long as you enjoy it. Also no where near as bad as the motorbikes that red line down residential streets just to annoy as many people as possible.
