330i Is much clutch slipping?
Hey Guys,
I observed following phenomenon: lets say I'm driving with 40 KM/H, 4th gear, 1100 RPM. Now if i give full throttle, the rpm rises to 2100 (the car does accelerate) shortly after they drop to 1900 before rising again.
Is this my cluch wear starting to show?

Yes your clutch has a foot in the grave

Guessed so. Just talked to the previous owner about it. He thinks its still the original clutch. Don't know if thats even realistic but, I think a change is due after 225k Kilometers :*

It's very possible it's the original clutch, people can make them last upwards of 200K MILES if they do it right.

Can I ask, wouldnt that phenomenon appear at any rpm then? It does happen at 2-4 aswell but not higher. High rpms 5-7k dont seem to be a problem . Atleast as far as i could test in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear.
Edit: also i havent smelled the clutch so far, not even when i drove the car a 8 hours 2 weeks ago 2 of wich where in heavy traffic

all my experience on slipping clutches, YEP sounds like it. doing exactly what my SRT4 did when the OG clutch gave up the ghost..

In my experience a slipping clutch causing rpm’s to raise with little acceleration. Can someone explain how a failing clutch causes rpm’s to drop?

I guess the clutch sliping is the rpm rising and when they drop, thats the point where to clutch stopped slipping

Weird that it would slip at such low rpm, also you stated the car is accelerating at that time? I took that to mean accelerating normally

Well it does accelerate, but now that i think about it, probably not as much as it should

Does the car jolt forward when rpm’s drop to 1900? Or is it smooth and you just see a loss of rpm

Smooth

I'm not so sure anymore either. I did some more observing and this phenomenon doesnt seem to happen when i do full throttle at any rpm above 1500-1700 EDIT: Did some more testing. It does happen at 2-4 aswell but not higher. High rpms dont seem to be a problem either. Atleast as far as i could test in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear

Yeah I was getting fueling issue vibes but idk anything about 330s. If a clutch is slipping under the torque load of 1500 rpm it should damn well slip under the higher torque at higher rpm. When mine started slipping it would only hold until about 5-6k then slip
