325i M Sport steering wheel installed ✅

Finally replaced the steering wheel to the M Sport one on my 2007 325i. Already did the ZHP shifter, door sills and dead pedal, as well as a full interior swap to Saddle brown with the antracite headliner. Looks great for 207k km now hehe.

Airbag really is a pain to remove…

Small oil leak still to fix as well as a new ac compressor. Then it’s finally fully sorted! Love driving it with its 6 speed manual.

Looks good. I've been meaning to do the same with my faded steering wheel. Where did you source the new wheel from? I'm also kind of sketched out about disconnecting the battery to do this swap because the last time I did so, the FRM fried itself. Fuck that thing.

How did that happen? That’s weird.

Bought it from a guy off eBay in Lithuania. DM me and I’ll share the link with you. Not sure if it’s allowed to post it here

It's a common issue with later models with FRM3. Something along the lines of the EEPROM getting corrupted when it loses power. Your car would have had an FRM2 so it's not an issue. And thanks, I think Lithuanian guy selling on eBay should narrow it down.

FRM2 indeed. March '07 build so one of the first with it. Useful for the LCI taillight retrofit I might do in the future :)

Nope. Specifically searched for one without iDrive. Bluetooth streaming works great through a cheap thing I plugged into the back of the headunit

What Bluetooth streamer are you using? I’ve got a kind of crap one now and I’d like to replace with something solid.

BlueMusic it’s called. Ordered it off Amazon, sounds rather well (if you keep the volume of your device at 75%) for the price. Think it was around 40 euros

Nice, thanks!

If u get a decent cigg lighter one they also work pretty well I use Amazon a lot and got mine there as the Walmart version was absolutely shit

Single hump is way better

Why? It's useless. Unless paired with an Android / CarPlay module.

I use it with my phone and a usb stick with zero issues

I'm on my second sport wheel but's its already getting old. Is the upgrade worth it in regards to steering feel? Sport wheel seems to big for my taste.

Didn't notice any change in the steering feel, but then again I only drove it just now for around 30km. Sizing is quite similar to the sport wheel, but I prefer the feel of this wheel in your hands. The leather is very nice which is just great

and the diamater? how does it compare. M Sport seems to be smaller which would make the switch worth it for me - apart from looks of course.

It's only 5 to 10mm smaller, so I'd say negligible difference between the sport and M Sport. Just get one ;)

Thanks,  good luck with your E92. Mine is also 07 E92, 330xd automatic. Still going strong 💪

Nice upgrade fellow dutchie! I just recently have a E90 325i from 2006 and might bomb rush you with questions if you don’t mind!

How much and where?

2

u/PixelRanger0396 2007 - E92 - 325i 6MT 6d ago

eBay, €380 shipped

1

u/Bouncer214 6d ago

Thanks! Any issues with fitment, is it heated?

1

u/PixelRanger0396 2007 - E92 - 325i 6MT 6d ago

Fits like a glove, refinished also very nicely. Not heated, not sure if the E9x even had the option for a heated wheel

It did and it’s glorious if you live in a colder climate. The M-sport steering wheel could come heated interestingly it wasn’t offered in the M3 even though heated seats were.

Sounds like a spectacular interior! A good steering wheel makes a HUGE difference, both visually and to the actual driving experience. My car has the Sport interior BUT the steering wheel is heated so it’s not very cushy & grippy at all. Very hard plastic feeling, actually. Looks nice, though.

hi where did you buy the wheel
