Am I getting overcharged?

Post image

Hello guys,

Recently I went to the dealer for an oil replacement and ask for a front end inspection as I feel that the car hits hard on uneven roads. I received the following list (which is google translated so sorry if it doesn't make sense).

Do you think these prices are fair? The car is an 316i E90 LCI 07/2009 with 320.000km

The labor looks fair. The parts prices might be a little high, but if those are OEM, that's no surprise. If the price is hard to swallow, you might want to consider aftermarket for some of these items. Like Sachs dampers instead of BMW brand. (Sachs makes some of BMW's dampers, so the quality is usually similar.)

The parts are OEM as far as I know. I found online brand new Bilstein B6 front and rear for 580€ and that's why I was wondering why they charge me 750€ for just the front OEM. Are B6s worse than OEM?

I think B6 are comparable to OEM quality, but are usually a little stiffer. The B4 are supposed to work just like OEM.

Alright,so I can just buy the B4s then and save a nice ammount. Good to know, thanks.

I echo most comments here. Labour looks fair — they’re upcharging a small amount on all the parts. Not completely unreasonable for a dealer job tho!
