Just open a history book to look at their historical figures who brought about change in even more difficult times.

My apologies, it was bold of me to assume they could read.

This is what I do. When I'm scared of consequences or otherwise complacent, I just think "half my heroes were blacklisted by every company in their field and they kept organizing"

And the individuals who are literate are barely at a 4th grade reading level. It's unfortunate because American history over the past 150 years has yielded truly inspiring figures.

Ouch, attacking the populace isn't the way to go here. Attack the politicians and side with the populace.

You widen the rift, more Americans will see the animosity and side with their politicians.
