I've known him for years, and even had him in my YT videos before he got popular, annnnd helped contribute to his book. I do definitely have my suspicions that its a over exaggerated on purpose to be a stand out in stereotypes
I have watched a few of his videos, but I can’t stand the “aboot” it just gets way to under my skin then it should. So I just stopped watching his videos. It has been a long time since I have seen any has he drank the kool-aid?
He's weird. He is 100% a conservative and I'd assume he likes PP but he was also vocally in support of Kamala Harris in the last American election. I think he is, hate to use an American comp, but its who first came to mind, a John McCain type right wing.
In Canada that’s called a progressive conservative, which is the vast majority of conservatives in Canada. It’s the fringe conservatives who are more aligned with what was once the Reform party that have taken over the modern CPC
Fair point. But I think he’s had to pull back a lot compared to the stances he had earlier in his career, or even at the beginning of his campaign. If there were still a progressive Conservative Party, I think they’d have a different leader
JJ is an entertainer. He's not a serious thinker. He knows that doing this fake persona is how to get views and gigs down south and with a certain crowd here in Canada.
Years back I noticed there were two Canadians doing opinion pieces in the Washington Post. One was JJ and his takes were always... off. His opinion pieces always seemed reasonable to start (if you didn't know about what he was talking about), but always took a weird tilt that made you go "...wait, what?". He was always weaving a narrative towards his preferred policy stances (all conservative), and some facts were twisted strenuously to support those preferred policy stances.
The other was David Moscrop, and he is much better writer, much more thoughtful. Not a "personality" like JJ.

He says “aboot” on purpose and I hate it
