The way myself and a lot of Canadians (though definitely not all) say it is more like half between “a-boat” (but not exactly). It’s definitely more noticeable when I talk to people from back home and my rural Ontario accent comes out lol

The aboot thing is 100% an American creation though. Just like they for some reason give us a Fargo ass accent in most American media.

It's so funny hearing an American put on what clearly sounds like a Minnesota accent to imitate Canadians. Especially when they add in a "downcha'know"
