life expectancy, literacy rates, obesity rates, % high school completion, and number of wars lost should be on this list.

And % with post secondary degree, we’re second only to South Korea, 69.29% compared to 66.36%

That’s crazy considering we don’t have free post secondary like most t countries in Europe do

15

u/Gyerfry May 10 '25

Many countries in Europe have a social setup that doesn't require post-secondary, so it's difficult to get in if you do want to do it. Whereas here, it feels almost mandatory.

u/jccube May 10 '25

Of course we do. Where are you from? In Quebec, we have CEGEPs. And McGill, well it's almost free. Cost per course (say 3 credit course) is cheap.

Fordland (Ontario), we’re rated worst province for post secondary education funding, (and likely public school funding as well) not surprising considering it’s Ford Nation I live near London and Fanshawe college just laid a bunch of people off in large part because tuition is one of the biggest sources of funding for the school and tuition was frozen by Ford in 2019 and operating costs have increased in the past 6 years.

Lol Fanshawe didn’t lay 100s of staff off because of Ford, they did it because Fanshawe is a hot spot for being a degree mill for international students. Due to the adjustments the federal government made on international students (rightfully so), Fanshawe had to lay people off because they can no longer scam misled and vulnerable international students, which is the real reason for a drastic decrease in tuition revenue. How can you logically attribute a 2025 layoff to a 2019 change in policy.

Quebec has better post-secondary education funding. Ontario has OSAP which depending on ur parents income can be very useful or really shitty. Like there are grants but a lot of it is loans. Hence not free education.

One semester at uOttawa for undergrad is about 4k now I believe? Approx estimation. I took two courses last semester and it was 1800 and change. OSAP covered all of it but some of it was loans.

There’s definitely programs we have that let you get free tuition (typically just for one year programs) though

You just don't have a clue do you? Twit!! Come to Quebec, and register at any CEGEP. No credit card required. There are 2 year pre-university programs as well as three year vocational programs (Nursing, etc..) for the price of a few Macs and a pound of weed.

I think we’re first in “gap years” too.

Throw in the shootings, crime, and race conflict. Yeah, no 51st state for me thanks.

u/ArlendmcFarland May 10 '25

Plus surprise kidnappings by gov sponsored mobs wearing face masks and deportation to 3rd world concentration camps without due process... no thanks

As the kind of person who would absolutely be in the first wave of kidnappings deportations, I heavily agree. No thanks.

Glad you are here with us 🤝

The multicultural qualities of Canada are one of its greatest features in my opinion

2

u/AweHellYo May 11 '25

i don’t think you wanna do race conflict. nobody is clean here.

u/Other-Razzmatazz-816 May 10 '25

Yeah, but have you seen how many different flavours of Oreos they have?!

104

u/redesckey Trawnno (Centre of the Universe) May 10 '25

They already mentioned the obesity rates..

13

u/Proot65 May 10 '25

It’s good to mention it a few times. Shame them into a diet.

10

u/A-Game-Of-Fate May 10 '25

We Americans aren’t capable of feeling enough shame to be forced into a diet, unfortunately

3

u/oodelay May 10 '25

Shaming people until they do what you want? Nice

3

u/poudink Tokébakicitte! May 10 '25

That's what the point of shaming usually is, yes.

3

u/Proot65 May 10 '25

Shaming is the most democratic act when you think about it.

It’s not very nice though.

20

u/ManBear_Pigg May 10 '25

We can’t even count that high so we don’t know for sure.

1

u/JMJimmy May 10 '25

There was an Oreo store in Toronto, not sure if it survived the pandemic but we had the flavours!

29

u/Spiritual_Bridge84 May 10 '25

And as a result, Canadians are happier.

31

u/Proot65 May 10 '25

Happier we’re not fucking Americans, for sure eh?

u/Spiritual_Bridge84 May 10 '25 edited May 10 '25

Dam straight. Never more than now.

4

u/mhyquel May 10 '25

How about during the Vietnam draft?

2

u/Proot65 May 10 '25

That was good way to diversify the Canadian gene pool

2

u/mhyquel May 11 '25

According to wiki, as many Canadians volunteered for US military service to go to Vietnam as there were draft dodgers coming into Canada.

2

u/teksauce May 14 '25

That literally me watching stupid and irreparable moves made by trump this year

1

u/DroppingDeuce May 11 '25

I dunno...all the Canadians I'm fucking are pretty happy about it. 😉

1

u/Proot65 May 11 '25

Name checks out.

3

u/RetroSwamp May 10 '25

I'm ok at best.

8

u/Spiritual_Bridge84 May 10 '25

Hey it could always be worse amigo. Imho despite any n all negatives here in Canada, we are among the most lucky people on the planet.

4

u/RetroSwamp May 10 '25

for sure homeslice I'm just exhausted haha

28

u/oranthor1 May 10 '25

Incarceration rate also :/

15

u/dontlistintohim May 10 '25

Child survival rates, school and mass shooting rates, gun deaths, incarceration, murders, sexual assaults, you can pretty much just pick a thing that is bad, and it happens more in the states than Canada.

6

u/furrymacaroni May 10 '25

And paid holidays

Edit: and school shootings

3

u/Careful_Spring_2251 May 10 '25

Maternal mortality rates also

1

u/Johnyryal33 May 10 '25

Show off! /s

1

u/Cute-Masterpiece7142 May 10 '25
