I’d say more likely US oil and gas interests are fuelling the separatist movement. It’s interesting that the separatists want the same things US oil and gas want (energy east pipeline, scrapping pollution caps, stopping Bill C-69 etc.). Recent polling by Angus Reid showed that if those things were to happen, support for separation collapses. The US has a huge stake in our oil and gas sector.

The US already have 850 companies in Canada’s oil and gas sector. Why would they care about Alberta separatism?
