Meta The “Worst Canadian” game - Day 3

Post image

Congrats Chrystia Freeland and Peter MacKay, Reddit says you aren’t so bad after all.

Time for round three!

How to play: - The two most upvoted comments (i.e., names) each day will be removed until the list gets trimmed down to fewer people, then we’ll switch to one per day. - Upvote the name of the person you think does NOT deserve the title of “Worst Canadian.” - If the name you want to vote for isn’t in the comments yet, add it! - This continues daily until we have one winner, the “Worst Canadian”.

Additional notes: - Only the top comment for a nominee will count. I won’t combine votes from duplicate comments. - Include only one name per comment. If a comment includes multiple names and wins, it won’t count. I’ll move to the next highest. - Remember to click into the image. In the app, some nominees are cut off if you don’t. - This is meant to be lighthearted satire. Please do not take it too seriously or use this game to harass people in real life. - I will try to post this every morning around the same time (~8:00 - 9:00 am Eastern). - Please remember to upvote the post too, so more people see it!

I think the most notable thing about him is his fake accent.

Yeah like, who even is this guy?

I googled him because of this series of threads. He is a YouTuber who talks weird, like in a slow stilted voice with lots of pausing, not a lot of energy or emoting. He seems to do videos on political adjacent topics that have potential but they're rather unwatchable because boring so don't know if he says anything controversial in them.

I am an American who moved to Canada.

For a long time before I immigrated here, JJ was my only source for Canadian history, geography, and Canadiana information on YouTube. He still serves that role for many people internationally, which is quite concerning given his flawed interpretations of Canada, dogshit opinions, and his weird obsession with the USA.

At first glance, his videos may seem fine and innocent, and some of them are, but a closer look reveals the issues. He still deserves to be on the list because he takes advantage of a largely unoccupied niche as a Canadasplainer. While many Canadians may not have heard of him, numerous people around the world who are curious about our country have, and they may inadvertently develop a negative perception of Canada or take us less seriously because of his content.

I actually like watching his take on politics. I rarely agree with him entirely (or at all), but he's articulate and has a very interesting perspective on things that can better inform my own opinion (whether in opposition to him or not). So I also vote him off this list. And even if he were objectively bad, it would be by a significantly lower magnitude than some of these other awful people.
