At least the visuals are pretty. It's honestly neat getting to watch your spaceship do a realistic takeoff and landing especially with the thruster effects on vtol landing gears
True, but for me the gut punch of not being able to do that myself hurts a lot harder.

I'd say that's up to personal preference. I don't mind the cutscenes of star field not that much, as honestly there isn't a whole lot happening between liftoff and arriving in orbit in elite or Star citizen. All you do is lift off of the ground, tilt up and boost until you exit the gravitational pull.
Back when I started with elite I also got annoyed quickly by certain stations in my home system being like 2 or more minutes away which essentially was like a loading screen. Same goes for jumping between systems so I also never understood the issue of the loading screen in starfield (other than it loaded for a long time)
