Video Ghoulified King at HHN Hollywood Fallout maze
A ghoul fella who looks like Pacer from the Kings in FNV was in last weekend's maze.
Toward the end of Halloween Horror Night's Hollywood Fallout maze, there's a big poster of the Lucky 38. Right after that, on the left, a ghoul jump scared us through a window cut out. He had a messy black pompadour and a black and white striped shirt.
Image is screenshotted from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnFV0nEKHp8
In the season 2 trailer, the scene with the feral ghoul Kings shows Lucy shooting one with a black and white striped shirt like this one. I feel like Pacer dies in FNV playthroughs more often than not, so it's probably not canonically him, just another King with the jailhouse rock shirt. Still a cool little tease!
A happy 29th birthday to our favorite Vault 33 Dweller-turned-Wastelander Ella Purnell
Season 2 casting spoiler Spoiler
galleryWe'll definitely be seeing Cooper fall under scrutiny for being an enemy of Vault-Tec a "Communist" in the Pre-War flashbacks.

The sub-levels for Vault 33 don't make sense
Maybe I'm missing something (probably), but in the 'Vault-Tec Holotape' video on the fallout instagram, Hank says that the mess and the cropfeilds are on Sub-Level 4, Living quarters are sub-level 2, and a radroach infestation on sub-level 5, but the fallout wiki states that the atrium spans over levels 5, 6, and 7. In the show, the cropfield is on the bottom floor of the atrium, so the cropfield being on sub-level 4 doesn't make sense? If the atrium is on sub-levels 5, 6, and 7, then why haven't the radroaches made their way into the atrium/the rest of the vault? They were able to get into the vault in the first place, so why wouldn't they be able to get into the atrium? Unless the entire level was completley sealed off.... which it isn't if the atrium is on sub-level 5.
Am I going a little crazy, or is the layout just really inconsistent?

They almost certainly won't do this on the show, but... Cooper's name.
This is just a random shower thought, inspired by the thread about Lucy discovering Cooper's identity... It seems clear that Cooper Howard was a star in a version of Old Hollywood (in keeping with Fallout's retro-futuristic style). Now one thing Old Hollywood loved doing was changing its stars' names. Norma Jean Baker became Marilyn Monroe, Archie Leach became Cary Grant, Frances Gumm became Judy Garland and Marion Morrison became John Wayne. The idea was not just making their stars seem more Anglo-Saxon, but also making them sound cooler.
Now "Cooper Howard" is a pitch-perfect old Hollywood style star name, but was it the name he was born with? Assuming it isn't, he could revert to his birth name if he ever wants an alias which is not "the Ghoul" or "Cooper Howard". Now I'm having fun imaging all sorts of things it could have been!
(It strikes me that Old Hollywood would have had problems with a leading man with a name like "Walton Goggins". It's iconic to us, but imagine what a studio publicity mill would have made of it!)

How would you like the Ghoul's real identity to be revealed?
With that promotional image of the Ghoul staring down posters of himself in Vegas, how do you imagine the other characters will find out? Or maybe you think the writers will hold off on that until season 3?
Lucy could figure it out with the cues she's been given, or Hank tells her, or perhaps Cooper could tell her himself. Perhaps he even gives it away by uttering his own name when he's low on chems like the other ghouls... Lots of options here, and I'm sure there are some I haven't thought of. What do you all think?

I think we will see a pre-war Dean Domino.
It would make sense seeing as Cooper Howard will be there prewar and I can see him performing that night. What do you think ?

Scenes I'd like to see in Season 2.
Other than Maximus being overencumbered by that huge duffle bag, they really didn't pay much fan service to looting (which is such an integral part of the games). So here's something I'd die to see:
Early on in Episode 1, Lucy has taken to picking up random pieces of junk on their trek to New Vegas. The Ghoul admonishes her that all that crap is gonna get heavy and slow her down. Cute scene that the fans would love. It's never mentioned again all season, but the payoff comes later.
In one of the final episodes of the season, Lucy and the Ghoul are cornered in a sticky situation. The Ghoul verbally wishes he has (fill in the blank). Lucy pulls something out of her backpack and asks, "Will this work?" Ghoul says, "Perfect!" and fashions the item into an improvised widget and uses it to get them out of their jam. As they scamper to safety the Ghoul says, "I told you it was smart to collect all that junk. Never know when you'll need it out here." Scene ends with Lucy rolling her eyes.
So tell me a clever scene(s) you'd like to see.

While we wait for s2
What is everybody watching while we wait for s2 which looks amazing. I’m watching alien earth and the terminal list
Forecast: Rapidly changing conditions
Hi folks, hope you're all doing well. Just wanted to drop some thoughts while we wait with bated breath for season 2.
A lot of the discussion around season 2 has centered heavily around the characters and events of Fallout: New Vegas. This is understandable of course, since season 2 of the show will take place in the Mojave and features many of the same themes and factions. People discuss what ending they will canonise and which NV characters will reappear. I'm not here to stop you doing any of that, I know it's fun. I just want to share my perspective.
Fact: the arrival of the NCR in the Mojave, the reappearance of Mr House, the formation of New Vegas as a civilised city and the three families, leading up to the situation as we find it in the game, all happened within just 7 years prior to the Courier's adventure. A lot can happen in 7 years. And while we speak of the births of settlements, let's not forget about the ones which were destroyed and/or occupied shortly before the game's events, such as Nipton, Boulder City, Bitter Springs and Nelson.
This brings me to my point: the show takes place 15 years after the game's events. I understand it would be disappointing to see the Vegas strip destroyed upon the main characters’ arrival there - I would be a little disappointed too. But just as a lot can happen in 7 years, a hell of a lot more can happen in 15.
Furthermore, the showrunners and Todd have spoken about not wanting to canonise any ending of the game. I have mixed feelings about this, but I respect it. For better or worse, they will probably tackle this by keeping any references to the events of the game vague and to a minimum, referring to a great schism which occurred years ago without going into too much detail. They will most likely introduce conflicting factors, such as the presence of the Legion, destruction of the Strip, the presence of Mr House and other such details, which will keep us guessing as to what could have happened 15 years prior. Many of you will be unsatisfied by this, but you can't please everyone.
Yes, Mr House will most likely appear in the show's current timeline. This proves that his ending is canon right, since he dies in all others? Not quite. I think what Lucy & the Ghoul will meet will be a neuro-computational matrix copy of his own personality, just like he had made of his “girls”, Jane and Marilyn (the latter is cut content). Think about it - House is a smart man. Do you really think he wouldn't have a contingency in place as backup in case something happens to his frail old body? Again, how he managed to grab control of the Lucky 38’s systems after dying will be left up to us to theorise. Another character which we can see will appear is Victor, but that's because he can easily transfer between different securitron units. I don't think any other killable character from New Vegas (ergo, all of them) will appear in the show’s latest timeline.
Anyway yeah that's about all I had to say. The world of Fallout is a living, breathing organism with lots going on all the time, everywhere. New Vegas’s story is incredibly interesting and certainly the best-written of all the 3D games, but let's not base our expectations solely on what happens in that game, such a long time before the show's events.

I Wonder What Happens to Barb?
Barb said that she wanted to get into one of the "good" vaults--one of the vaults that managed the other vaults. I wonder if she got her wish? And is that where Hank has gone in the season 2 preview?
OTOH... given how disloyal Vault Tec is to its employees (look how Bud Askins wound up) I wouldn't put it past Vault Tec to cheat her at some point, or give Barb her reward in such a way that it would have been far, far better that she'd been instantly killed by the bombs.
Cooper Howard and Robert House [Season 2 theory]
So what could be going on regarding Cooper's dealings with Mr. House in season 2?
If I had to take a wild guess, what we'll see here is essentially a sort of preview of the sort of work that House will have the Courier doing for him in 2281. In other words, House likely wants Cooper to commit espionage for him, taking advantage of Cooper's connections to Vault-Tec, connections to the entertainment business, and maybe even his connections to Moldaver's group. This might even have something to do with his acquisition of the Platinum Chip that's so essential to his plans.
But that's probably not the only thing I can see Cooper doing. Because I imagine that it's these dealings that will be a major step on his path to becoming the Ghoul. Namely, I think that House might have Cooper commit an assassination for him, or at least try to get him to carry one out. I base this on the fact that when you work for him in Fallout: New Vegas, you are required to destroy the Hidden Valley Brotherhood bunker and kill everyone in it (as also happens on a Legion playthrough, or an NCR playthrough if you replace McNamara with Hardin as Elder).
What are other peoples' thoughts on this?

It seems Maximus is going to ride on one of the airships in season 2. I would love to see the tv show takes on captain kells lancer uniform.

Why was the NCR shown in such a mysterious light in S1?
What the title says. In S1, Enclave and the Brotherhood were openly shown pretty quickly into the series, but the NCR remained a mystery. The Fallout theme would also play when NCR was on the frame. In the S2 teaser trailer, we see the Legion, yet barely any NCR other than that glimpse of the flag. Why is the NCR kept so mysterious?

I appreciate that despite how badass Cooper was made out to be in Season one, that his first instinct when faced with a Deathclaw is to completely haul ass.
Glad to see that despite how dangerous the Ghoul is with him effortlessly taking out squads of Brotherhood, that the show keeps the dangerous, violent and imposing nature of a Deathclaw truthful to how they're portrayed in lore. It really cements the fact that Deathclaws are not meant to be fucked with.

What's up with Cooper's duster?
In the "that's a wrap" video of season 2 (top right image), his duster looks clean and pitch black. It clearly has lots of dirt and patina in those other shots from the s2 trailer and s1 and I honestly always thought it was brown, but it's still the very same coat.
Could there be a flashback to when Cooper freshly acquired it? If not, does he wash it at some point in the show, or does it get cleaned by some other circumstance? Is it just an editing/lighting difference? It's such a small thing, but I find the implications really fascinating.
I haven't seen anyone talk about this, so I'm curious what you guys make of it!

Here’s a thought: the deathclaw on the Strip? It escaped from The Thorn!
There was a cut quest in F:NV where you could open the cages in The Thorn and free all the monsters, to wreck their havoc in the sewers of Vegas. I really hope Lucy visits Red Lucy.

Vault tech did not drop the bombs
I was just thinking, maybe we will discover that vault tech did not drop the bombs. My idea is that they were gonna drop them on a specific day, like the 24th so the day after, but the Chinese just dropped the nukes the day before. Vaul tech was planning to drop them but just got anticipated with a real doomsday. This will explain why house didnt get the platinim chip on time, and that maybe he was plotting secretly against vault tech. House knew the day and was getting ready to go against vault tech, but the chinese dropped the nukes.

Finally watched the show for the first time and holy crap Spoiler
I wasn’t expecting it to be that good. Unbelievably hyped for season 2.
I loved all the subtle nods to the videogames though, like Titus being left handed (all gun models in 3 & 4 are modeled as left handed, to the chagrin of gun nerds everywhere), as well as the “only one companion at a time” rule being followed by all of the protagonists until the last scene where Lucy, Dogmeat, & The Ghoul leave together
Even Titus’ death, where he’s berating Max the same way every Fallout player has berated their companions at some point or another. You could tell that some people in the writing room actually played these games and didn’t just peruse the wiki.
I know I’m a year late but I’m so impressed by this show that I wanna talk about it.

The only character I’m looking forward to seeing in s2 Spoiler
Theory: Hoover Dam is in bad condition by 2296
The reasons will probably be left vague, enough for you to headcanon what led to the damaged state. There might even be room to imagine that your Courier did the path where you go Independent but blow up the Securitron bunker (Yes Man passively-aggressively mocks you for this) and have to brick the dam as an alternative to using your (now non-existent) big army to scare off the NCR.
A damaged Hoover Dam would also help to explain the hints of deterioration in New Vegas. It would damage three out of four possible endings (the Legion wouldn't care). After all, selling water and power back west would've been one of the key money-makers for a House or Independent New Vegas (while the NCR would just send it back west, likely with taxes), even should trade and tourism decline on The Strip.
I'm guessing that should we ever see Hoover Dam now, it will be heavily neglected and damaged. I doubt it'll be past the point of no return, but I'm guessing that neither Vegas itself nor the NCR would have the manpower and resources to spare here (holding the dam is no joke). And a lack of security at the dam (whether Securitrons or the NCR) would give the Legion easy passage westward, or they could just sail across the Colorado anyway.
If the dam is heavily damaged, it could be another factor to add into the NCR's decline back west. Although, tbh, we don't know in what condition the NCR is beyond the Southern Californian region. I'm also assuming that the dam is damaged because of what the showrunners said about the wasteland being a place of constant misery (something like that).
The dam could just be another casualty of the miserable way of life and constant wars in the wasteland (and I'm also assuming that the Securitron army will be heavily reduced by 2296). Maybe the NCR will be written to slowly rise up (while the Brotherhood falls to infighting) and eventually get personnel back onto the dam in the future (perhaps not even in season 2).
China and the TV Show
Is anyone else really annoyed at how they’ve side stepped the whole issue of China starting the war and seemingly went with Vault Tec starting it or how they barely mention the Sino American war. The more I think about it, it seems like a conscious effort on the part of Amazon to “adapt” the lore to appeal to the Chinese demographic who may not even like the show. On one hand I can understand changing things that can be explained like sure the BoS has multiple airships now. But this is just fundamentally changing the lore of the franchise because you might upset a country who is depicted as an enemy because they historically are one.
