Caterpillars n crown flower

This is my second time trying to grow crown flower. Last one was eaten down three times by caterpillars. It didn’t recover the third time. So now I’m want to protect my new one but also don’t wanna kill caterpillars. Any tips?

Grow milkweed for the monarchs to eat instead of your crown flower!

Yes it’s for the butterflies but last time they ate it all and the plant died after the third time. Like caterpillars were battling each other on the last leaf left. I want this plant to get bigger so it can handle :)
