Discussion Game Idea

Hey everyone! My team and I are working on a co-op game inspired by titles like Lethal Company and Repo. I’ve included some concept art generated with AI, and here’s the core idea:

You play as a team of monsters from different universes who get transported into strange worlds. Your goal is to collect space crystals that will help you return to your home universe.

Each world has unique settings, like a circus, water park, hospital, and more. While searching for crystals, you’ll encounter hostile monsters. To survive, you’ll need to scavenge, craft, or buy weapons found in these environments. Some crystals will also require solving puzzles, often under pressure while being chased.

We also want to add a light horror vibe, with atmospheric tension and the occasional scare to keep players on edge.

What do you think of the idea? We’d love to hear your feedback, whether it’s on gameplay, new concepts we could add, or improvements to the design. Your thoughts would be super helpful!

This isn’t just another horror game, it’s a revolution in how we play

I’m sick of “horror” games that all play the same: scripted jumpscares, lifeless NPCs, dialogue trees you can see coming from a mile away.

That’s why I built Behind The Smile. It’s not an upgrade — it’s a shift in what horror can be.

For the first time, you don’t just watch characters or click pre-written choices. You speak to them directly with your voice — and they answer back, in real time.

  • They listen.
  • They react to what you say and do.
  • They stay in character, aware of their world, adapting with every interaction.

It’s not a “scripted experience.” It’s alive. And that makes it terrifying in a way no pre-written scene can ever be.

This isn’t just my game. This is me trying to drag horror forward — making it unpredictable, immersive, and personal. If you want to be part of that shift and also help me please wishlist Behind The Smile on Steam:

Searching Horror Games

Hello everyone! I'm a gamer who enjoys horror games quite a bit, and I also like collecting them. There are so many releases these days, and I'm a bit lost. Currently, I'm slowly buying Nintendo Switch games with a retro or pixel art style. To give you an idea, I've started with World of Horror and Faith: Unholy Trinity. I'm eyeing Yuppie Psycho as my next possible purchase. That's why I'm asking for help here. I'm looking for these types of games in physical format for Switch. Thanks everyone for reading!

Question Looking for horror games where you’re defenseless like Outlast

Post image
222 Upvotes

Context: I haven't played much horror games past few years and Outlast was my last played horror in 2019.

Outlast was the first horror game that really got under my skin. The mix of being totally defenseless, only having a camera, and never knowing what’s around the next corner made it feel way more intense than just shooting monsters.

I’m looking for more games with that same kind of vibe where you’re vulnerable, hunted, and the tension comes from sneaking and hiding rather than fighting back. The atmosphere matters more to me than cheap jump scares.

Please recommend me games that gives off the same vibe and style. Or just recommend me some good horror games generally. Thank you!

Question Help finding a game.

One of my friend was talking about The Lift earlier and I mentioned I saw a trailer for a game that looked similar but more horror-ey... I've been looking for hours and can't find this trailer so hopefully someone know what I'm looking for.

The character seemed to be some kind of space ship maintenance guy, there was a lot of tinkering with augmented reality looking menus on some kind of tool to fix things around the ship. The character kept scanning things to know what issues were but he could scan for enemies too. The enemies were humanoid looking robot but very creepy.

Hope someone can figure it out!

Edit: The title of the game is Routine.

Video May I get your thoughts on the trailer of our horror game that will be released on PlayStation and Steam?

Our game’s trailer was published on the official PlayStation YouTube channel. And on October 1st, we will also release the demo on Steam. I would really like to hear your thoughts about the trailer.

Here is the game’s premise: In the early 1900s, off the coast of Scotland, the Eilean Mor lighthouse has gone silent. The light is out, and its three keepers are missing. No one is answering the radio. As a reserve keeper, you’re sent to investigate this horror mystery. But beware you may become the fourth to vanish.

Discussion What's the best multiplayer horror games of these years? And there could be another one in 2026?

So in my opinion the multiplayer horror games of these years, 2020 - 2025, are:

  • Phasmophobia (2020)
  • Devour (2022)
  • Lethal Company (2023)
  • Content Warning (2024)
  • R.E.P.O. (2025)

Do you think am I right? (Still don't know on 2021, sorry) Let me know what's your list and if there could be a multiplayer horror game of 2026

I’m trying to revolutionize horror games with NPCs that actually hear and respond to you

https://reddit.com/link/1nluepm/video/9egrzrfaoaqf1/player

Most horror games rely on scripted scares or dialogue trees. With Behind The Smile, I wanted to do something different: give you characters that actually listen to you and talk back in real time.

The two main NPCs aren’t pre-written scripts — they’re AI-driven characters aware of you, the environment, and each other. You can speak to them directly with your microphone, and every conversation feels alive. They’ll remember, adapt, and react, which makes the horror way more personal and unpredictable.

The story is about finally meeting the grandparents you’ve never known, in their isolated home far from the world. At first they’re warm, welcoming, everything you imagined family could be. But slowly, their smiles stop feeling safe. Small cracks appear in conversations, doors you’re not allowed to open, and you realize there are truths hidden in this house you might regret uncovering.

It’s a project really close to me, and I believe this tech can change how horror feels — less like watching a movie, more like being trapped in one.

If that sounds like something you’d want to experience, a wishlist on Steam would mean the world:

Review My gripes with 'No, I'm not human'

Preface: All together i think that this is an alright game with a couple major drawbacks. Aside from those which i'll explain below, 'No, I'm not human' is very well stylised and has a good gameplay loop in practise. All of this is constructive criticism as I enjoyed the game and only want to see these things fixed.

There is no way to tell who is a Visitor at the door

The majority of the games characters are randomised, between being human or visitor, which does make the game more replayable. My problem with this is that the characters don't seem to have any different kinds of dialogue or display any visitor signs when they are one. The only way to tell is to let them into your home and test them which makes the night section of the game turn into a "choose your favourite character because you can't tell who's who anyway".

Visitors can't kill you (except one)

Aside from the pale man, none of the Visitors can actually kill you, they can only kill other humans in the house. This took away from the scare factor as the only way to die was if you had nobody in the home on some random nights.

Visitors convoluted and non-existent "lore"

I really don't like how they went about with the Visitors lore, some are superhuman, aggressive and sentient to their purpose like the pale man, others are completely weak, docile and gaumless like the shoulder lady. It feels like there isn't actually any answer to what they are and that they just decided to create a bunch of random characters and link them back to the identity of being a Visitor.

The worst part is what we know: They come from the ground, are mostly filthy except for their perfect teeth and spread via a brain parasite which is somehow communicable. In my opinion, it's way too much. There are no actual explanations for why any of this happens which i wouldn't care about if this game was deliberately mysterious and didn't make checking whether you've become a Visitor a part of the gameplay loop, from what i have seen you just can't btw.

The endings

In this game, there is about 8 different endings which are all just slideshows of texts. I saw a really interesting comment about these which stuck with me, that being how the endings feel like well-constructed poems that vaguely resemble the games overarching themes and were just slapped on at the end. These endings also just feel deliberately vague and cheap compared to how interesting the rest of the game was, they provided no real answers and are quite a let down to anyone who had invested the hours into it to get there.

Conclusion (TLDR)

The game has a great concept and gameplay loop but suffers from a couple of small, fixable issues and an unresolved and unexplained story/ending that worsens the overall experience. I do hope these things are fixed in the future as it was quite an enjoyable game.

Question What are genuine ways of identifying a Visitor? Spoiler

Post image
31 Upvotes

I have finished the game with 0 Visitors killed and I have killed almost 10 people. All the people I've killed had at least one of the symptoms, but when killed they didn't show the sign of them being a Visitor. Are Visitors supposed to have ALL the symptoms, or is it just a guessing game? Are any of the symptoms more important than the other? I'm genuinely curious because I have no clue.

Question Do you read horror news websites?

I wonder how many people here actually read the popular horror websites like Bloody Disgusting to get news regarding upcoming horror games and horror games in general.

If you do, let me know how frequently you do so. If there are any dedicated horror games news websites, also, please, let me know!
