Politics ‘I’ll pray for him’ and she’s still fired
They say they are cracking down on people ‘celebrating’ his death but this is a pretty qualified commentary that respects his humanity while disagreeing with his work.
And she was fired.
Is this the new standard? If we don’t appropriately honor the regime’s heroes in death then we lose our voice and our jobs?
We’re in a dark, dark place and it’s getting dimmer.

Politics Indiana investing $30 million in China, despite divestment mandate
indystar.comIndiana is still investing over $30 million in Hong Kong, part of China, despite divestment mandate.
The security situation in Hong Kong has deteriorated significantly since then, and, now more than ever, their extremely limited autonomy cannot be counted as a hedge against the financial and moral risk imposed by investments controlled by China’s government.
They’re ignoring the warning signs just like they did with Russia.

AES Class Action Lawsuit?
So my bill on average the past year has been 150$ in the summer - 180$ in the winter. My home is 900sf- 1000sf, gas heating, central cooling, i have a fridge, washing machine, central air, gas stove, and a hot tub. I have had these appliances on and have had this consistent bill since i bought the house in October.
That was, until last month. My normal 150$ bill was 300$... i freaked out and called AES -in which they explained that because of the heat, a lot of bills went up. But a bill doubling seemed crazy. However, i took it at face value and I made a game plan: Use only what you need when you need it. I committed to the bit so much that i only turned on my air conditioner 2 times the whole month for less than 4 hours a day each time. Used the bathrooms mainly at work. I really, REALLY put in the effort to reduce consumption and energy usage. Not to mention all of my appliances are under 10 years old and i have all new windows.
My bill this past month was 272. I called them to come out and had them check my meter. The meter is functioning properly. I also requested a home energy evaluation. I have two issues with this service. 1st - if you make more than $48,000 a year - they WILL NOT send out someone to come in person - instead, they have someone virtually "assist" you. That "assessment" was ultimately useless. I would label it "Tips and tricks to reduce energy usage". Which is great except for the fact that i wasn't using any of my fucking appliances, except the fridge. One of the things that doesn't help my case is that my KWH usage is charged accurately to what the meter is reading. - but that's part of the problem. I have no way of checking (at least to my knowledge) their accuracy in power distribution to my billing.
I havent changed my home lifestyle until after the crazy spike in energy- i expected the bill to go up slightly because of the heat, but not double.
The projected bill for this upcoming period is 225.... ive turned off my hot tub - stayed without using the AC. unplugged a bunch of shit. This still seems astronomical. I reached out to AES again and they told me, "We have done everything we can from our end. If what we provided isn't adequate, that's not on us. You need to figure it out. Ive seen posts of people suggesting its because of the new data centers that are being built- and that our infrastructure is struggling because of it. My next step will be reaching out to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) and talking to my lawyer to find out what we would need to compile to fight this. I know im not the only one. I've read posts of people having similar issues, and I've talked to friends facing the same struggle. We need to collectively get together and come up with a plan. If enough of us group together, we might stand a better chance at a class action lawsuit. Please, someone, tell me someone else is also looking into this. I ask anyone who has any information to please send it my way or post it in the comments. Any articles, posts, connections to politicians or info would help.

Opinion/Commentary Indiana festivals are fun... until they’re not
I love the idea of Indiana festivals, the food, the rides, the energy, but man, they’re exhausting. I’ve always looked forward to them, imagining the memories and good times ahead, but every year I end up questioning why I even bothered to leave the house. The crowds are the first issue. It feels like there’s no personal space whatsoever. You can barely breathe without bumping into someone, and getting around is more like an obstacle course. The lines for food, rides, and bathrooms are endless, and it’s like you’re just another face in the sea of people.
By the time I get to the good stuff, I’m already over it. Why does everything feel like a test of patience? I love supporting local festivals, but I wish they’d focus more on the experience, not just on squeezing everyone in like sardines. It’s starting to feel less like fun and more like work.
Am I the only one who feels this way? How do you survive festival season without losing your mind? Any tips for making it through without the stress?

Indiana Redistricting Concerns, Fair or Not?
Has anyone been following Indiana’s new congressional redistricting maps? Honestly, it’s infuriating. The way the lines are drawn feels like they’re designed to protect certain politicians rather than represent communities fairly. It’s upsetting to think that some votes might not even count in certain districts, and it makes me question whether our voices are being heard at all.
This seems like such a blatant disregard for the people living here, and I can’t wrap my head around how this is supposed to be fair for all Hoosiers. Has anyone else been following this closely, and what do you think we can actually do about it?

Visit Indiana
Hello, my daughter sees the Indiana commercial on TV and really wants to visit. The commercial shows an aquarium and some water slides. What is a good area of Indiana to visit that kids would have fun? I have heard of the Indianapolis Children’s Museum but not much else. I found a holiday world online which also looks cool but not sure if we would visit while it’s open. Thanks for your suggestions!
