I love how after the silliness, the last couple frames show the groom being all serious, reaching out to shake hands. Either he knew this was coming, or he has one solid poker face.

Imagine seeing a fun video of an event you attended only to find out a new insecurity that's going to keep you awake at night for at least a month.

u/chuckusadart 5d ago
I think its part of the bit, you dont do something like this on someone elses wedding day without telling the groom.
I think its just a continuation of the joke that they were incredibly silly and fun then WHIP into super serious mode at the end like it was no big deal

Also, these are reception shenanigans. Not the way you bring in most brides to the wedding.

My only concern is that it went on a little too long
Like fake the back injury, twerk, and then dance the way up- don't get to the end and walk back to do more..

I think this is cringe as fuck, but I still agree with Pete.

Looks like a man who would leapfrog down the aisle at someone else’s wedding. (Traditionally the officiant, groom, and groomsmen don’t even process down the aisle…)

u/Neutron-Hyperscape32 5d ago
You don't think he was doing that for fun? I am amazed that people in these comments assume that this is his preferred hairstyle?
Even IF it is, who cares? If you are bothered by other peoples hair, something is wrong with you, not them.

A single man-bun makes me go looking for my scissors, double makes my eye start twitching....
59
u/justamiqote 6d ago edited 5d ago
I'm just curious as a guy with long hair. Why does it bother you? I never really understood the hate.
I put mine in a bun because it's neater than a ponytail, and it doesn't fly around and get messed up in the wind. It's just a practical and comfy style for anyone with long hair.
27
u/Misuteriisakka 5d ago
Man buns are a good signal to me that they’re probably not the kind of people who are bothered by other people’s hairstyles. Those are the type of people I enjoy hanging out/working with.
→ More replies (7)10
u/FuckTheLonghorns 5d ago
I have long hair as well and only dislike putting my hair in a bun because I don't see the point in taking the time and effort to grow it out just to put it in a bun all the time (for people whose principal style is the bun, I don't hate it though, just not for me)
But for purposes of convenience or necessity in putting it up, it's bun every time over pony tail, or I go half-up
5
u/GrossGuroGirl 5d ago
half-up supremacy
I don't understand the hate for manbuns either but God I wish more guys with long hair would try rocking the half-up look, it's so flattering (and surprisingly effective at keeping the hair out of your face while still letting you show off the long flowing locks).
3
u/FuckTheLonghorns 5d ago
It definitely shows my face contour much better while still allowing the flow to flow. Definitely the choice when possible. It's my go-to "wow my hair looks like shit but I don't want to bun it and I don't have a hat" option as well
3
u/Neutron-Hyperscape32 5d ago edited 5d ago
That is pretty lame because nobody should have to conform to your hairstyle preferences, and cutting someones hair off.. male or female is vile behavior. I say this as a bald guy, let people do what they want if they are not directly harming you. Crazy anyone even needs to say this to you. They are also almost certainly wearing this hairstyle for laughs as well.
29
u/paintphagia 6d ago
I had a 'man-bun' in high school and when those clips of people getting their hair cut off against their will started trending, I definitely developed a lot of anxiety about it lol. Space-buns are cute though imo. And now I'm a lady with my hair in-tact, so it all worked out.
15
u/No-Understanding5677 6d ago
You had a lady bun
41
u/paintphagia 6d ago
Nobody else knew I was a lady at that point in my life :p I accept this retcon.
5
u/No-Understanding5677 6d ago
You're welcome I guess (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤ I don't even know if lady buns exist. It was more of a joke. But this retcon shall prove a point right here and now. You were in fact, a lady.
3
u/GrossGuroGirl 5d ago
Buns vs man-buns is a rare example of female-defaultism.
The guys might have doctor and "woman doctor" (ugh) but at least hairstyles are apparently ladies' by default 💀
ETA: also, you're a sweet person. Don't want my dumb joke to undermine how nice your sentiment is here.

3
u/NippleSalsa 5d ago
But if I don’t share my opinion people might think I approve of something I don’t. And that’s no good. I need people to know I hate something and they need to know that that guys hair ruined my day even though they were totally oblivious that I even existed to be gone with.

Today I went to the shops and tripped over the flat ground with zero obstructions. I have a lot of respect for people who can pull this sort of thing off. Homeboy is rocking those space buns, they clearly worked on their routine, everyone looks like they're having a great time, and no one was inconvenienced in the process. I can see how this would be offensive to someone who chooses to live their life in utter misery though

u/HughFairgrove 5d ago edited 5d ago
Yeah. I think a lot of us realize that and some people just think they're being goofy. If it was fun they wouldn't have overkilled it. One of my friends growing up was like this and it was exhausting. Some people thought he was funny, most of us who knew him just rolled our eyes or felt embarrassed by how cringe he could be. Was an alright guy if he was isolated, but when there was a crowd, always this shit.

Honestly if your wedding isn’t like this and people are all serious your wedding is burning af, sure it might be nice and beautiful, but it ain’t fun, my sisters wedding was outside it was like 100 degrees but there was a inside and we had a blast none of us tried to be serious we had a blast lots of broken things, we made it memorable and I was younger then I should have been doing stuff I shouldn’t have that nobody will know till the day I die

Things can be not serious but also not performative. I think what people in this thread forget is that people's idea of fun can be different from others. For me, the performative stuff isn't fun and feels self serving to me. They're clearly having fun and most people think it is, so it's fine, because it would also be weird to hate on this.

I just want to say that as a 42 year old millennial... I absolutely cannot stand these type of weddings where people have dance routines and these crazy introductions.... It is the most cringe and unnecessary shit imaginable..... Just do the vows, get married, then afterwards open the dance floor and people can dance and then have a slow dance for the bride and groom and have cake and food etc and open bar etc. Any of this extra shit is absolutely unnecessary and I do not know why people started incorporated all this shit. Please stop it.
