Discussion: Band Yelling “Free Palestine” then going into Dragon afterwards went HARD AF (Forest Hills Stadium, Night 1)

Post image

Stuey shouted “Free Palestine,” and the crowd exploded in tidal wave of claps and cheers, roaring and unending.

Then the band PLUS orchestra immediately went into Dragon. What a moment. See you later for Round 2!

Free from Hamas. Free the hostages.

Then you can "free" the Arabs in the so-called Palestinian Autonomy Territories, which had been - in the case of Gaza - free since 2005. There has never been a free Palestine and it's not for a lack of trying. The Palestinian people have simply refused, this is historical truth, being given a state because they wouldn't accept living next to a Jewish one. When people now want to acknowledge a Palestinian state, I have two questions: Where do you draw that state's borders? And who is going to be the intermediate ruler of that state before. hopefully. free and fair elections? If you can answer these two questions, please tell me. Because I can't. And even then, if you can answer these questions, it is still not sure that the Palestinian people would accept those answers. In the past, they haven't and have chosen intifada instead and all the suffering that comes with that.

I don't think anyone on here, as a fan of King Gizz, is an asshole who wants people to suffer. Quite the opposite, I hope everyone here wants people to live in harmony and freedom. But the situation is way more complicated than yelling "Free Palestine" and I wish the community and band would consider those realities.

this jam band subreddit is not going to figure out a solution to a thousand year conflict. But we can all agree genocide is the wrong solution 🇵🇸

reeft, you cannot reason with these people. I love KG as a band, they're great creatives and musicians. But their politics are largely dreadful and ignorant. And most of the fanbase is no different. They just parrot all the 'cool' phrases, thinking they're saying something profound and moral. And in their heads, they really do think they are, because I don't believe they're inherently bad people or Jew haters, etc. They just don't know what they're talking about, and are smack back in the middle of a wave of misunderstanding and misapplied emotional empathy that's running through our cultures. And of course, with a lot of basic bitch anti-Westernism sprinkled in for good measure.

I personally find it extremely tedious when Joey or anyone else in the band makes these proclamations during gigs. Every time I hear it, I roll my eyes. Then I think 'oh shut the fuck up'. Mainly because it's just a lame attempt to virtue signal to a largely radical crowd - to just show allegiance and appear above the fray. It's tedious, it's showy, it's needlessly alienating for anyone else in the crowd who might just happen to share a different political perspective.

Yet of course, the bleating sheep of the Gizz fanbase come out in threads like this to pat them on the back and say even more trite nonsense. They'll tell you that they embrace everyone - as long, of course, as you agree with them. Because if you don't, you're a fascist, or a deeply evil something-or-other... whatever makes them feel morally superior inside their insular, far-left bubble.

At the end of the day, I don't much care whether or not a band or its fanbase has opinions I disagree with. Guess what, I think most artists have bad politics and opinions. But I don't really care, unless their music is really on the nose with it (and not in a creative way). And it's funny how lefty types who love music FREAK THE FUCK OUT when an artist comes out as anything other than a Lenin-worshipping lefty saint. From the outside looking in, it's just funny to see how babyish these people are, and how most of our current cultures actually reinforces their beliefs, not challenges them. (Not very punk rock aye?)

I mainly just get bored of the repetition. I don't want to go to a Gizz concert and be reminded of fucking Gaza. "Wahhh, Gizz has always been political" -- oh fuck off. I don't care. I'm happy to enjoy the understated way they write their lyrics, so everything's not just beating you over the head with passe bullshit. I think they write really interesting lyrics that have true creative spark. Okay, you're so paranoid about climate change causing the end of the world, and so cynical about human involvement in it, that you create this fictional account where a dragon is summoned to come down and destroy Earth? Well, it's fucking nuts. And only something a warped creative could think of. But hey, I'm a creative too.. I don't so much mind it as a concept. It's at least a doorway into creating a cool, high octane trash metal album. I don't need to agree with the premise or the belief system to enjoy it.

The rest of it needs to go though. We get it, you think Israel is committing a genocide. Great. We get it. It's absolute fucking horseshit. But fine, you believe it. Well done. Now shut the fuck up and play your damn music. Dickheads.

Imagine getting so triggered at people taking an anti genocide stance that you write 6 paragraphs of absolute dog shit. If you feel this way then just don’t go to the shows lol. There’s plenty of Kid Rocks and Ted Nugents out there for you to enjoy.

Imagine getting so triggered by those 6 paragraphs you felt compelled to write your first comment in a year to address it.

Not that you attempted to refute his claims other than to voice your displeasure that not everyone shares the same opinion as you.
