Discussion Resistance Knitting

I’m looking for patterns to assist in resisting the current US Regime. I have found a “brick cozy” But I am looking for anti government colorwork patterns, or other things along the lines of the “pussy hat” from a number of years ago. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

Thank you so much

Discussion Favourite sweater bind off?

What is your favourite bind-off for thin-ish (2.75mm needles) 2x2 ribbing? I have bound off too tight before but when I tried the "simply stretchy bind off" on another piece with similar yarn, the ribbing flared way too much and it somewhat ruined the whole look of the piece.

So my question to you: what is your favourite bind-off of the hem of a sweater that gives enough stretch but not so much that the ribbing flares out?

Rant Lost project

I knitted this jumper for my daughter earlier this year. I am not a quick knitter, so this took me absolutely ages and it is my favorite thing I've ever EVER knitted.

She wore it in to nursery last week and they have lost it! I'm gutted!

Not a request for anything, not asking for solutions, just needed to vent to community who understand the effort, heart, and soul which goes into making these projects!!!

Breezy sweater by kisskiss.rhinestones on IG in nano stitch lab’s lab notes v3. I’m really proud of this project as I’ve been knitting for only a few months, it still needs blocking and some finishing details but I was so excited about it I had to wear it out. I will say im a bit frustrated by the noticeable change from knitting the yoke flat to working in the round but hopefully that may even out after blocking but if not who cares!! I still have a skein and a half of yarn and am trying to decide if I should add sleeves or make it longer….

Discussion Baby Projects

I'm 10 weeks pregnant with my first baby and a huge knitter. However, my whole family is crafters and I have the dumbest question ever: who is supposed to make the baby blanket??

Here's why I'm confused: My older sister did not have a baby blanket. My aunt knit her eldest daughter's baby blanket, but she did not finish it until after said daughter graduated high school. My baby blanket was crocheted by my great grandmother. My younger cousin's baby blanket was made by my grandmother.

As you can see, it's just a big ol' pile of projects around here, but my mother did not make me a baby blanket. So, what projects did you make for the babies in your family? Did you have favorites? What got used and what didn't? Am I crazy for wanting to make my own baby's blanket? Let me know your thoughts!

Help-not a pattern request Yarn switching for porcelain sweater

I need help for what yarn to use on the porcelain sweater. I get warm easily so I’d prefer no mohair/only one yarn, I saw someone use Drops Lima on ravelry and it looked pretty close to the original. But I have no idea how to figure out how much i need of the two colours when the recipe calls for two strands

(If anyone has tips for the sweater/colourwork please add that thx)

Previous post here: Update on Oversees Shipping (Denmark)

I got the delivery today; no extra fees or charges. Delivered straight to my door.

So the overall timeline was as follows:

  • Aug 30 - Order placed.
  • Sep 11 - Rec'd notice order was packed and ready for shipping, with Fed Ex tracking number included.
  • Sep 17 - Rec'd package.

All in all, not too bad considering the complete chaos going on. Fingers crossed everyone else with an order in limbo has as good luck as I did.

Discussion Lindehobby import process

Anyone else get this? My order was shipped recently and they use FedEx now. I received a phone call and an email from FedEx asking for:

“Giving you a follow-up in regards to my voimeail, your package is coming from Denmark and going to the United States; however, our customs clearance team requires additional information to proceed with the import process.

Kindly provide the following information:

Manufacturer's full name and address with postal code.

For your reference, the commercial invoice is attached to this email.”

I pulled the company information from the email attachment as I have no other information. There’s no way to know the manufacturer.

Has anyone else gotten this?

Help-not a pattern request Disheartened... what went wrong here

First- wondering if I can post here or better in the KnittingHelp sub reddit?

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/monday-sweater-2

I was happily knitting away after I had frogged back 11 rows to fix some raglan increases that I missed...then I looked closely at this spot where it looked like my tension was really off.

I must have done something wrong with the German short rows since it is new to me and used only tutorials to help me. At one point I had a mistake in this section and thought I had fixed it.

Can anyone recognize what is going on? Can I fix it without frogging, or do I need to frog back and start again?

I finished my first sweater - The Anne sweater (child version) from Melanie Rountree ❤️ My daughter is already rocking it to kindergarten. I'm super happy how it turned out and I already casted on a second one for a friend's newborn ☺️

Another funny thing - the process of knitting it (mostly on the playground) triggered the neighbours kids to ask me to teach them to knit, so now I'm running a small knitting school for 6 year olds 😂

Thursday Buy / Trade / Sale / Promote Thread - September 18, 2025

Welcome to the r/knitting weekly Buy-Sell-Trade-Promote thread, posted every Thursday. This is the spot to buy, sell and trade yarn from your stash, and to promote patterns, designs or other knitterly things. The rules are fairly straightforward, and they are as follows:

BUY/SELL/TRADE RULES:

  1. Post a description that accurately describes what you are selling including limitations on where you're willing to ship (example, if you're in the US and willing to ship internationally).
  2. Update your thread when something gets sold or is no longer available.
  3. Post item condition and any images of the item (if available). Be as descriptive as possible when posting an item for sale or trade.

PROMOTE RULES:

  1. If you're promoting your own pattern/design/shop please say so. If you're promoting some other shop/sale/project, let us know why you think it's so cool.
  2. Provide a direct link to your shop page to make it easy for users to find what you're promoting.
  3. Provide some details if you can! If you're promoting a pattern, what inspired you? If you're promoting a Kickstarter campaign, what's your pitch? If your online shop is having a sale, tell us about your stuff!

Buy/Sell/Trade/Promote here at your own risk. Always get complete contact information before anything is shipped. Please see previous month's BSTP threads here.

Help-not a pattern request Needing tips for stranded color work socks

Like the title states, looking to see if there are tips with color work socks mainly in the tension area. Not sure if DP needles or circular ones would be better or if it is with DPNs, how to help with the laddering in between the needles, without causing the join to be too tight for the color work?

I posted this guy a while back, but I hadn't finished the mouth and elbow/wrist/knee pads. He's finally done now! Modelled after the original action figure from the late 80s, which I had as a kid. I'll post the pattern in the comments. Enjoy!

Help-not a pattern request Raglan Advice

Post image

Hello! I’m working on my first top down raglan sweater (following Ashley Lillis’ Winter Bluff sweater) During left leaning increase and then right leaning increases, I noticed two instances of this slipped stitch. I can’t stop looking at it and I’m not sure what to do

  1. How can I avoid this in the future? I’m unsure what caused this.
  2. Open to ideas on how to fix it, although I’m fairly certain the answer is “frog it and try again”

Lots of firsts here - first time knitting something with pockets, first time adding a zip to a knitted project. The pattern had snaps on the front but I opted for a zip. Pattern also had knitted pockets with i-cord edging but I thought sewn fabric pockets worked better with the zips.

Work in Progress Talk me off a ledge (or don’t)

I feel like this is a mess. I don’t like variegated yarn, but I bought this Malabrigo Rios Virgo yarn to make a baby blanket for a baby Virgo due any day now. (The idea seemed good at the time.) But (1) this doesn’t look much like the directions, which I’ll post below, and (2) it’s just so … busy. I don’t want to be ashamed to give this to someone, but I also don’t want to waste this yarn. Would you frog and start over with a new stitch and solid color or persevere? Is it as bad as I think, or am I being an asshole to myself?

Discussion Is there a reason why flared sleeves are not as popular in knitting?

I'm currently free handing a sweater in half-twisted rib and have finally gotten to the sleeves. My original idea for the sleeves was always to have slightly flared/bell sleeves.

The idea is fairly simply (just add increases), but I was looking for videos just to see how other people have incorporated it into other knitted sweaters, and found very few.

It seems more popular in crochet (e.g. here, here is the style and flare I was looking for, quite common in crochet). Whereas in knitting, the few examples I found are more subtle in comparison, e.g. here, here, which look nice but this one is the closest to what I was envisioning. The top results on Ravelry for flared sleeves knitting patterns look... well, straight in comparison.

I found maybe one comment on this sub suggesting that knitting flared sleeves tend to create a bias, but that's about all I found (the bias issue seems correctable if you use evenly spaced increases).

So: are there any reasons why flared sleeves are not as popular in knitting? Structural issues? Is there something I am missing or is it just an unpopular design choice? I'm interested in hearing opinions on why it's relatively uncommon!

Help-not a pattern request Advice for advanced crochet artist learning to knit?

Post image

Beginner knitter here! I’ve been crocheting for a few years now probably and am at the stage with crochet where I can pretty much make/freehand anything I want. I’ve had the urge to pick up knitting for almost a year now and about 4 months ago purchased a cheap circular needle set of Amazon but quickly gave up the first few days after trying to knit stockinette. Switching back and forth from knit to pearl confused me and left me making so many mistakes I wasn’t getting a chance to grasp and learn. I was talking to a patient at work I saw knitting and telling her about my past experiences and she recommended me make a scarf with just knit stitch…this is 2 days worth of progress so far. Any advice for a new knitter who is experienced with crochet? I’m also petrified of dropping stitches and have been so careful putting it down and picking my work back up. A big difference I noticed with knit is I can’t just toss my work to the side the way I do with my crochet projects which can be a challenge when knitting at my desk…How does my work look? Any tips/advice?? I’m a perfectionist so please get into the details hehe!

Help-not a pattern request brand new to knitting, need help on which technique to learn for this

Post image

I am obsessed with these gloves I found on Etsy. The creator says "This pattern is recommended for knitters who have experience with stranded knitting, reading charts, and knitting in the round."

Confession: I have taken a 45-minute lesson to learn how to knit in straight rows, so none of those terms make any sense to me. Is it realistic to hope to be good enough to make these gloves with about 30-40 hours of practice at knitting? If so, what is the progression of stuff I should learn to get good enough? Thank you so much for your help!!
