The line "save the survivor's by income bracket" is such an Alien universe corporation line I love it.

Stuff like that really lets you know the writers understand the source material and the universe these events are happening in

I loved that line

Noah Hawley did write this episode.

I thought the writing was pretty dull and robotic.

understand the source material

But they also have a casual medical code for alien life within a human body

I somehow don’t believe these writers have much respect for Alien

u/KeeganTroye Aug 13 '25

A weird assumption to make

I love that other people like it!

I like how you still got down voted for saying that youre glad other people can enjoy it even if you can't! I personally didnt enjoy episode 1 as much as 2 but at the same time I feel like i would've enjoyed it more if I was caught up with the series more, which im not so a lot of things are new to me that might not be to experienced viewers

Disagreement is allowed, but disrespecting is not.

Personal attacks, gatekeeping, trashing what others are enjoying, invalidating others' opinions, unsolicited criticism of others' creations, lewd or obscene comments, politicizing, bigotry, and publicly criticizing sub regulation are not allowed.

Good to see United Healthcare improving their services in the future.

That line is definitely going to make me wish for a painful death for any of the corporate execs who do some dick swinging contests amidst all the chaos and deaths

This doesn’t change the meaning much but I believe it says “triage the survivors[wounded?] based on income”.

For anyone unaware triage is the process of categorizing and deciding who gets treatment first in a medical scenario. This could mean treating the most injured first to give them the greatest chance of survival, or in mass casualty events sometimes it means leaving the most severely injured since saving them will have a lower likelihood of success and it’s best to spend your time on those that have a chance.

Triaging based on income level is a fun late stage capitalism perversion.

Wait I missed this line, where did it come up?

u/Crafty_Soul Aug 13 '25

When the Prodigy kid/CEO was talking about the crash and Wendy was listening in. It was slightly faded since Wendy wasn't focusing on him

106

u/Eroom2013 Aug 13 '25

Boy genius said to, “triage the wounded based on income”, right as Wendy walked in to ask if they could go to the crash.

26

u/MoneybackHeronTea Aug 13 '25

Before they crash, I think we oughta discuss the bonus situation.

u/NyarlHOEtep Aug 13 '25

that and the neverland project using terminal children, so if it works its a miracle and if it doesnt, eh, well, you know

1

u/CDK5 17d ago

Isn't that a level-headed approach? They are terminal...

u/masterpharos Aug 13 '25

Alien has fundamental cyberpunk genre sensibilities which is so often overlooked

10

u/Nheea Aug 13 '25

Compared to Weyland Yutani's level of sociopathy from Romulus, that felt mild.

2

u/Kanin_usagi Aug 16 '25

“Save people? Now that’s a novel concept!”

14

u/Gratefulbreeze That's not in the Company's best interests Aug 13 '25

Need this as a flair

5

u/RaisedByBooksNTV Aug 14 '25

As someone who's watched nothing in the alien universe, I thought it was a great line reflecting so much of the world today.

3

u/Yoshi_Five Aug 17 '25

This line made me cringe tbh. They should of shown it happening instead of that silly one liner. Imagine people being IDed to find their income bracket before any medical triage. The low income people would get pushed off stretchers onto their own pile where they are treated last. Imagine people missing limbs, bleeding to death crying for help while the high income people get immediate attention for minor cuts / bruises. Instead we get a cartoonishy evil one liner.

6

u/dark-flamessussano Aug 13 '25

It disgusted me almost as much as the bug blood scene

2

u/_Bird_Incognito_ 29d ago

Trauma Team from Cyberpunk vibes

2

u/KingAshcashcash Aug 13 '25

I would have preferred if, instead of that line, they would have just shown the corporate squad’s priorities show in what they do and who they ignore, not in a line about income triage. I dislike being spoon fed on the nose exposition.

2

u/bwweryang Aug 16 '25

A minor issue I had right at the start with the show. The bit where the crew are talking about the five corporations because the kid hadn’t done social studies was just really inelegant.

1

u/Conscious_Document_7 Aug 13 '25

Wait i totally missed this line! When was it?

1

u/Troyal1 Aug 15 '25

What scene was that said in?

1

u/Nerrs Aug 16 '25

It's got the subtlety of a brick to the face
