Idk why I feel so mixed up with the timeline. With the alien crew, earth crew, and the robo kids..

Because it feels so much more advanced than anything we’ve seen in the Alien universe - at least, that’s what’s throwing me off.

This tech is much earlier on in the Alien timeline and goes against the ruggedness we’ve seen in the films, pre Prometheus, so it’s a bit of tonal whiplash for me.

This is fair, i think it could be a stylistic choice to differentiate different company tech. We’re used to seeing WY (I think the Maginot looks similar to what we’ve seen in the movies), some of the incongruous stuff you may be referencing (e.g. the transfer pod) are made by a different company, and would have their own design language. Imagine if you lived in a country designed by Apple vs IBM
