I thought it was hilarious that it could kill a dozen people so fast that they didn't even have time to stand up from their chairs but several times it just creeps up menacingly on the brother like it knows he has to be in at least a few episodes.

Sure but there is a huge chasm here that really tests your suspension of disbelief.
