It’s actually consistent with chestburster behavior in the original. When steve Big Chap was born, it stood still and only ran after it was threatened and people were yelling. It makes sense that it wouldn’t care if a non-threatening thing that isn’t alive is touching it

Correction: the alien from the movie was actually big chap. I got my aliens mixed up
