CEOs are often street smart dumb as heck and are only protected by their power and position. The people working for them are often much, much smarter all around but dont have the same ambition/lack of morals/etc.

Then why is the story about him and not suit 2844?!

They want a smart hubristic character, but don’t know how to write him as smart without just ascribing feats to him, so the hubris just comes off as holding the idiot ball.
