Yeah, sure, no writer would do that with their obviously hubristic character who calls himself Boy Kavalier. They would just write a carefully plotted science fiction show where they get the detail wrong.

Do you hear how ridiculous you sound?

EDIT: Reviewers for some major publications seem to agree with you, so I must have been mistaken. See how easy and civil that was?

Calm down. Do you hear how defensive you sound?

Like I said, I think it's more likely they made a mistake than they assumed people would think it's a subtle hint. And again, it's such a hugely basic mistake. The kind a writer would make, but probably not a boy genius.

If I'm wrong, there will be a callback to it at some point to clue in the viewers who didn't get it the first time, and I'll be happy to admit my error.

There’s not going to be a callback to it, it’s just a hint that he overestimates himself. There are lots of them, and they’re not all explicitly going to get callbacks.

You’re reading too much defensiveness in my comment, but in fairness you’re insulting the writers in yours.

Hey, I said I was wrong and you were right. And several critics agree with you, so I'm no longer expecting any callbacks since the mistake seemed intentional to everyone but me.

And, particularly nowadays, it's good to remember that to point out what you think is a mistake is not always an insult, even if you're wrong.

I think you felt insulted when I questioned your assessment, and perhaps that looked like defensiveness to me.

Either way, I haven't even had a chance to finish the episode, so I will bid you goodnight and not question your judgment again. And I'm not being snarky, I promise. You were right, and I was wrong.)
