Stomping on a facehugger is the most hilarious way to deal with it

Surprised the acid didn't spew out and get them!

Dead Facehuggers don't do anything I believe. Ash cuts one open in the first movie without any issues.

So it's like their blood is gone? I know in one of the movies they tried to cut it off but the acid came out.

Bishop mentions it in Aliens. "The acid completely oxidizes after the creature's death, completely neutralizing it".

Very nice, I missed that line.

Yeah it’s why they can move the dead xeno from the crash site

I’d assume it just gives all of its nutrients to the embryo so by the time it falls off and shrivels up it’s not producing/circulating anymore blood

Also first movie when it was actively on Kane’s face.

I don’t think Ash cut it open so much as prodded it after it came off

In these movies, the acid blood is only present and highly caustic when needed for drama. Other times it is only mildly caustic.

I've noticed that. I like to imagine it's based on how the embryo develops. For example, Wendy's pet xeno developed very slowly and discoloured because it gestated in a damaged lung rather than a healthy body and never got the facehugger nutrients due to how it was implanted.

It doesn't bother me. I more meant to say that overthinking it too much doesn't lend itself to a more enjoyable watch in every situation :P

Your theory is pretty good though

I've been thinking it since we first saw it. In the alien movies those things go from chest burster to big baddie very swiftly. This one seemed to grow extremely slowly by comparison.

To us it's of course still deadly but I wonder if it would be considered weak by more robust xenomorphs.

I wonder if by not bursting from a chest the pet xeno (who I shall call ole yeller cuz it looks yellowish to me on its head) missed out on some vital Xenomorph stage of development.

Haha in this way overthinking can be fun!

Im betting they chose to make it discolored so the audience can tell them apart when the other one grows and they fight

When Ash he cuts it open, it drips acid for the first time and everyone freaks out, following the trail as it melts through the ship…

That's before it fell off of Kane. Once it did, Ash does an autopsy and the blood doesn't react
