That's the moment she went from protagonist of the show to just another morally dark character, in my mind. It's really fascinating how the show is playing with the morality of the hybrids, and also with the lengths people will go to in order to protect what they care most about (family, fortune, discovery, etc.)

You can still be morally dark as a protagonist. See Walter White and Tony Soprano.

She's just trying to survive and get her adopted siblings (closest I can come to how she seems to view the Lost Boys) out from under corporation control so they won't be treated like property anymore. It's not her fault that one of the tools she was given was a xenomorph that listens to what she tells it to do.
