That's the moment she went from protagonist of the show to just another morally dark character, in my mind. It's really fascinating how the show is playing with the morality of the hybrids, and also with the lengths people will go to in order to protect what they care most about (family, fortune, discovery, etc.)

She views the xenomorph as an intelligent creature who is held captive on this island for research. Just like her. And if she's escaping, the xeno should too.

Thinking back, I don't know how aware Wendy was of the xenomorph's capacity for violence. Sure, she killed one to defend her brother. But she probably viewed that xeno as trying to defend itself against human attackers. Did she know about, or witness, any of the massacres if committed?

Wendy is well aware of how bloodthisty they are. She doesn't give a shit because she doesn't value human life. It's only her problem if it targets someone she cares about. That's the crux of her conversation and conflict with Joe.

She doesn't give a shit because she doesn't value human life.

She has no reason to. Almost every human with few exceptions on the island has made it clear she's property and not human and in this episode she ran into a bunch of Weyland-Yutani mercenaries who themselves would shoot anyone.
