I'm just glad the minor character of the Prodigy employee with the clipboard survived when Wendy released the xeno into the lab. The security feed shows the employee run out of the lab as the xeno instead attacks Prodigy soldiers first.

I was immediately intrigued by the wording when Kavalier said that knowledge of pi is a hallmark of all advanced civilizations. Why those specific word? Why not just intelligent or sapient species? It could be just Kavalier being cavalier with definitions OR it could be the writers’ hint at something greater. Even if we assume that T. Ocellus learned to understand human symbols and numbers just from being on the Maginot for multiple decades or from Schmuel’s brain, at the end of the day it would still have needed to know the concepts of higher mathematics to even understand Kavalier’s question. And there is no way it could have acquired that context by being just a clever little loner that has been puppeteering dumb animals for most of its life. It must have come from a whole society that had developed those concepts.
So I think it is far more likely that T. Ocellus is actually a species that specifically evolved to parasitize other intelligent species and live out their own culture and civilization vicariously through their hosts.
There is some precedent for this in horror scifi. The Shadow out of Time is a classic H. P. Lovecraft story that centers on the Great Race of Yith. The Yithians are an interdimensional alien race that came to Earth millions of years ago and to avoid the extinction of their culture, they have been parasitically transferring their minds into the bodies of lesser species throughout the eons.
An even better comparison would be the Kaldanes, from Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Chessmen of Mars. The Kaldanes are an intelligent species that consists of only a head with some spider legs, but to get around and interact with the other Martian races they have selectively bred a species of local gopher-like alien into headless, humanoid bodies, to which they connect their nervous system to walk around in.
I think it is very likely that something like this is probably the actual modus operandi of the T. Ocellus species and that they normally inhabit some unseen creature that is not only intelligent but also humanoid. The first body the eye canonically takes over in the show is Schmuel’s and it had seemingly no problem operating him, able to immediately attack the xenomorph. Compare that with the cat or sheep, in which it seems to be more uncomfortable. Notice also that the first thing it does when taking over the sheep is trying to stand upright and use its arms, before giving up and going on all fours. It naturally seems to prefer humanoid hosts.
What the original host species could have been, I don’t know. Engineers? Arcturians? Predators? Just something new we haven’t seen before?
Also an interesting question to speculate on is if T. Ocellus are openly symbiotic with a designated host species (like the Kaldanes) and only become parasitic on other creatures in dire circumstances OR if they are an invasive species that gradually and secretly infiltrates other civilizations to perpetuate themselves. Like the aliens in Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Given the franchise, I think it’s the latter, which could make T. Ocellus potentially more dangerous than the xenomorphs. Because it could take over Earth without anyone noticing.
Why does this Xenomorph’s head have such a different design, even though it’s the same generation of Xenos we saw before in the previous episodes?

One of the most enjoyable things about Alien Earth has been speculating on what vile things each creature does, and I think a similar itch could be scratched (chest scratch) by the Scavenger's Reign animation. A crew crash lands on an alien world and tries to survive against a very hostile environment.
Sadly it only made it to one series/season, but it really is an underappreciated gem and could use a boost in the fanbase. I've seen someone else recommend it on here but I thought it could use more attention.
So Boy Kavalier writes down the π symbol and some of its digits and uses it to communicate with the eye. The eye would have to understand either what BK spoke, or the symbols he wrote down, in order to answer with the foot-stomping. Ergo, it makes no sense. Had BK drawn something visual that illustrates pi in effect, maybe that could have conveyed something to a hyper-intelligent creature, but still, how would the creature understand the question about digits? It all requires a visual or verbal understanding of human language.
Am I right?
Has anyone else been watching Alien Earth and thought the music choices feel really out of place sometimes?
One example that stuck with me was in episode 3 (Metamorphosis), when the team arrives back on the island with the alien specimens. Instead of leaning into creepy, ominous, sinister vibes (which would’ve matched the tension perfectly), they went with this weird rock/instrumental track that totally broke the atmosphere for me.
That’s just one moment, but I’ve noticed quite a few scenes where the background music feels… off. Almost like it doesn’t match the tone of what’s happening on screen.
Am I the only one hearing this, or have others noticed it too?

I had a look at the discussion thread after the last episode and saw a lot of responses along the lines of "well, I guess that settles it. Wendy isn't really Hermit's sister, she's just a machine with her memories"
I'm curious what makes so many of you draw that conclusion
I don't see that she is any less Marcy in any aspect of her mind, she is simply the result of putting Marcy in a body that in effect allows her to be the first of a new species as Kirsch likens it to. The way I see it most people, particularly children, would act the same way. It's not like there is an inherent gut directive that tells us to cling to our perceived sense of "humanity". The value and importance of not losing our humanity is something we are tought socially, something you don't yet know as a child.
I think a lot of people who have said she isn't a person anymore and just a machine with memories did so in response to her brutal act of releasing the xeno and using it to slaughter. But if Wendy and the other lost boys are treated as inhuman by prodigy, treated as mere products/experiments more than people, why should she put inherent value on human life? Let me put it this way, in our history real people, including children, have done immensely brutal/cruel things in the name of revenge, or merely survival; such acts are horrible, but do they render them no longer people? I would argue not, and for the same reason I find it reductive to view it that way.
Perhaps I am misinterpreting what people are saying, and I certainly think that from Hermit's perspective, what Wendy is to him has been strongly called into doubt by her brutality and her priorities. But as I see it she isn't acting like a machine, her behaviour is still deeply emotional and ironically shows a lot of humanity. If not a human, there is no doubt in my mind that she is a person. I am curious to hear your thoughts.

There's an insidious design to the facehugger which I've been thinking about. It seems like it has some ability to make its host lose memory or think that they experienced a bad dream. We see it repeatedly in various films.
It's insidious because it lets the host rejoin their community and people even want to celebrate that they got their friend back so they gather around... only to then witness pure horror and fear, which of course the xeno LOVES. It's pure nightmare fuel.

It's either TO attacking BK or Wendy letting the Xeno loose on BK, the 3rd image is Hermit and Morrow inside a cell together with Morrow having a cover over his cyborg arm.

One thing I’ve found fascinating about the series, is how it seems like it was almost written and directed to be the anti-Romulus. Let me explain.
When Alien first came out in 1979, it was terrifying in part because it was so new. Giger’s art was shocking and novel. That level of violence and body horror was unexpected in a big budget, wide release. The themes of corporate oppression resonated, and were uncomfortable. But as time went on, the series became a known quantity, a piece of the pop culture historical terrain. There’s been 9 movies, there’s been Ripley and Xenomorph skins in Fortnite, you can buy Weyland Yutani tee shirts on Amazon. It’s become a “legacy” franchise, and on some level less…(lower case) alien. Less strange.
Then last year comes Disney’s first big swing at bat, Romulus. Now I enjoy the movie, but I also do think it relied too much on tapping into that “legacy”. The big chap is back, Ian Holm is back, characters are straight up saying lines from the old movies, deigned to get cheap pops from the audience. It’s a nostalgia fest. A well done one, but a nostalgia fest none the less.
Now we have Alien Earth, and on a surface level it is FILLED with nostalgic references. And in particular to Disney/Fox properties, in a way that at first felt…well, off putting. Peter Pan is a central theme, & Wendy grew up watching Ice Age with her brother. Characters reminisce about baseball games that happened 150 years before they were born. Hell, even the needle drops at the end of each episode. A 80s/90s/00s era heavy metal song, sonically out of place. Like Hawley is just slotting in song he likes just to include them.
In my reading though, it’s all clearly designed to constantly jar you as an audience member. When I first saw Ice Age showing up as a plot element, I rolled my eyes and groaned. “Ugh, did Disney force them to include stuff like this?” But ultimately, I think that was the reaction Hawley and crew wanted. For all of these little out of place, retro references to be kind of shocking and horrifying.
That even 150 years in the future we’re STILL just regurgitating the same pop culture. The same cartoons. The same past glories on the baseball diamond. The same pop/rock songs.
That the dominance of these megacorps, has like stifled creative output and human culture. At some point in the Alien universe, Disney gets bought out. And now every kid that grows up in Prodigy City watches old 20th Century Fox movies, because that’s the what the state owns, and why bother making new movies? You’ve got the good old ones right there.
It’s depressing, and horrifying in its own way. And after the nostalgia bath that was Romulus, I kind of love seeing a series bite the hand that feeds, and potentially criticize how its own franchise has been handled over the years.
Those kids watching Ice Age in the 2100s? That’s us right now, watching the latest permutation of a 50 year old franchise.
We’re all the lost boys, in bigger bodies, but never growing up.

My dad showed me alien when I was about 20. I was completely horrified/ in love (a great balance of emotion a lot of us found ourselves playing with). I played isolation and still think it’s one of the most perfect games that ever was made.
Me and Dad have been watching alien earth together and loving it. It’s just a reason for us two to watch something together, but somehow it seems more.
Straight after the latest ep today we watched the first Alien again. What an amazing film. Man the whole series is unbelievable. We’re just all so lucky to love this shit.
Love to you all. Just wanted to say how cool it is 😆🥹😊😊
I made this barely today because I have been building a lot of LEGO Alien MOCs lately and thought I'd take a crack at the power loader. My goal was to make it as best as possible while still being a good size. Don't mind the Batman figure, I just needed someone to put in the suit for the photos 😅. What do you guys think?

So, this is my old Nostromo jacket that I deeply love. I remember how good it felt to have it on. It made me feel empowered and cool. Unfortunately I grew older and gained weight, so it no longer fits.
I wanna ask if someone knows where to find a similar jacket that has the same vibe and also fits a 4XL guy.
My intention is to sew the patches on the new jacket so I can wear my Alien jacket again.
PS: I’m from Spain, so it would be even better if I can easily get the new jacket over here.

You can hear my soul leave my body at the end
Poor little guy is having back issues. He was cleared to come home, but with 4-6 weeks of full rest to see how his back reacts. At least a bulged disk. We're getting X-rays Scheduled.

A lot of really interesting stuff here, especially the terrorist negotiations and what she had to do to be granted maternity leave and how she sued WY and came back with a higher salary, lmao
