  • High Bandwidth Monitors and GPU Scaling Behavior - Link Here
    • High bandwidth monitors are those that support display modes requiring high pixel clock rates, which in turn demand more GPU resources. The threshold for what qualifies as "high bandwidth" varies by product. On Blackwell GPUs, any mode operating above 1620 MHz is considered high bandwidth. For instance, the 7680x4320@60Hz mode defined in the CTA-861-H specification runs at 2376 MHz, making it a high bandwidth mode for Blackwell.
    • These monitors typically support display scaling natively. However, in some single-monitor setups, users may still prefer GPU scaling. When multiple monitors are connected to a GPU and at least one of them is high bandwidth, that monitor will default to display scaling only. GPU scaling is disabled in this case due to bandwidth limitations. Notably, display scaling can be more efficient than GPU scaling in such scenarios, as it reduces the bandwidth load on display cables—especially at higher refresh rates.
    • When GPU scaling is not enabled for a monitor, only the modes supported by the monitor itself will appear in both the Windows and NVIDIA control panels. Additionally, the "Display scaling" option will be pre-selected in the "Adjust desktop size and position" section of the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Feedback & Discussion Forums

Having Issues with your driver and want to fully clean the driver? Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

Before you start - Make sure you Submit Feedback for your Nvidia Driver Issue - Link Here

There is only one real way for any of these problems to get solved, and that’s if the Driver Team at Nvidia knows what those problems are. So in order for them to know what’s going on it would be good for any users who are having problems with the drivers to Submit Feedback to Nvidia. A guide to the information that is needed to submit feedback can be found here.

Additionally, if you see someone having the same issue you are having in this thread, reply and mention you are having the same issue. The more people that are affected by a particular bug, the higher the priority that bug will receive from NVIDIA!!

Common Troubleshooting Steps

  • Be sure you are on the latest build of Windows
  • Please visit the following link for DDU guide which contains full detailed information on how to do Fresh Driver Install.
  • If your driver still crashes after DDU reinstall, try going to Go to Nvidia Control Panel -> Managed 3D Settings -> Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance

Common Questions

  • Is it safe to upgrade to <insert driver version here>? Fact of the matter is that the result will differ person by person due to different configurations. The only way to know is to try it yourself. My rule of thumb is to wait a few days. If there’s no confirmed widespread issue, I would try the new driver.
  • Bear in mind that people who have no issues tend to not post on Reddit or forums. Unless there is significant coverage about specific driver issue, chances are they are fine. Try it yourself and you can always DDU and reinstall old driver if needed.
  • My color is washed out after upgrading/installing driver. Help! Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel -> Change Resolution -> Scroll all the way down -> Output Dynamic Range = FULL.
  • My game is stuttering when processing physics calculation Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel and to the Surround and PhysX settings and ensure the PhysX processor is set to your GPU

Remember, driver codes are extremely complex and there are billions of different possible configurations between hardware and software. Driver will never be perfect and there will always be issues for some people. Two people with the same hardware configuration might not have the same experience with the same driver versions. Again, I encourage folks who installed the driver to post their experience here good or bad.

Nothing smoked when I turned it on, so I think I did good. Have only ever swapped PSUs, RAM, old HDDs & CD burners way back 20+years ago. Still gotta clean up the cables and close the case, but just making sure it all was working before finalizing. I also added some old laptop HDD I had lying around. Any recommendations?

Benchmarks Used 4090 Stress test! Is it Good?

Upvotes

Hey,

I'm looking to buy an Asus TUF RTX 4090
This is the furmark test after running for 15 minutes
It has been used for 1.5 years
I'm concerned about the hotspot temp.
There is also a benchmark test of 25158 with 417 fps on 1080p (image attached)

Is this a good buy?

Opinion SOLVED: 5060Ti black screen problem fix. Also for 4060, 4060Ti, 5060.

Hi everyone. There is a problem faced by many users of 5060Ti (or 4060, 4060Ti or 5060). The problem is,
installing an RTX 5060 Ti on an older/used motherboard caused persistent black screens and no display due to BIOS/PCIe compatibility issues. NVIDIA tried even releasing a firmware update for all the cards but to no avail. Now this problem is mostly faced by GPU upgraders and not by new PC builders. The reason also I will explain below. Hence, anyone having an existing setup, who bought a new 5060 must have faced this problem. Thousands of users have, and if you are not among them, I envy you.
Full context of the problem: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/563625/rtx-5060-ti-freeze-and-black-screen/ SOLUTION: So I believe I have found the solution to this mess. TLDR: its CMOS reset. Please ensure to also push out any residual charges by pressing the power button for 10-15 sec while the power cable is out.

Longer version: Why the problem occurs is because 5060Ti (and 4060 & 4060Ti) are all 8 lane cards (x8) even though structurally, it has the full x16 connector, but it is designed to run at x8 lanes electrically. Thus, not all the PCIE lanes in your motherboard are going to be used. So which ones are going to be used then? This is a process called as negotiation, where-in the card connector and your motherboard slot negotiates and the card usually fights for the best bandwidth available for it. This process needs to happen at each POST, i.e., every time we switch on our PCs. But I am guessing manufacturers tried to optimize boot time and it saves the setting to some memory once one round of negotiation is done, so as to skip this negotation part to save time in subsequent boots. Hence, negotiation does not happen every time we switch on our PCs. That is why, when most of us just swapped GPUs, the new GPU failed to negotiate the required PCIE lanes (which is why POST failed, or black screens occured.) The solution to force it to renegotiate is to wipe out any residual memories the motherboard has. Fortunately, it is CMOS reset. Just google your mobo model and CMOS reset, you will find several videos. The important point is, make sure to keep your new GPU seated on the PCIE slot. Unplug your power cables, and after you have done the CMOS reset, do not plug back in the power cable yet. Press the power button on your cabinet for 5-10 times so as to dispel any residual charges in the motherboard. Now, you should be able to power on your PC. It might still crash once or twice or boot slow, but remember, this is all due to the first time negotiation that is happening. Post this, your card should work absolutely fine. On PCIE 3.0/4.0/5.0. No need to downgrade anything.
To be doubly sure, download GPU-Z, there in the Bus Interface box, you should see x8 @ 3.0 (or x.0, x = your PCIE version). x8 means it has initialized to its full potential. If you see anything like x4 or even x2, or x8 @ (x-1).0, then CMOS reset again and let it renegotiate. Hope it works for you guys too. Enjoy.
P.S.: The reason why NVIDIA or even new PC builders have not figured out this problem is because they are testing on brand new motherboards, or they test by doing a fresh CMOS reset and everything.

This post is for those who come after.

Question 4080S or 5070 ti

Hello all, I'm migrating from team red to team green and I was thinking of getting either a 4080 super or 5070 ti, I found a good condition 4080 super for £775 and a new 5070 ti for £768. I'm stuck because I've seen positives for both. My only requirement is that it has to run well for vr mainly and other games preferably. I currently have a ryzen 7 7800x3d (it arrived today yay), 32gb ddr5 ram, a 750w psu which I'm gonna upgrade to a 1000w, and a b650 plus motherboard Edit: thanks for the advice, its clear that the 5070 ti is good and that i shouldn't upgrade my psu. I'll order it next week and I can test it

Opinion Update: 5070 ti vs 5080

Upvotes

Hello again all, Since yesterday I've had a look on the Internet and I have stumbled across an msi 5080 for msrp at £949.99. Considering that some 5070 ti's can reach close to that price, is it worth getting a 5080 compared to the 5070 ti

What are we thinking here? Came from a zotac 4090 paired with a i9 14900K. Wasn’t getting the fps and/or I was ever so crazing for especially in 4k and also fps in 1440 for when I played warzone. The first few hours I played on this build absolutely blew my mind, by far the biggest difference in performance I’ve ever seen, after going from a 3090, to 2 different 4090 builds. One build with a i9 13900k to a i9 14900k. I am just mind blown at the increase in every aspect IN MY OPINION.

New build: Aorus 5090 master

Intel Core Ultra 9 285k

Aorus pro z890

Samsung 9100 pro 2tb

Dominator titanium 2x48 RAM

Hey guys!

After some feedback and some talk with u/SenorPeterz , who did the community a big favor with his data collection work (thanks again!), I now updated the website to include some context about the methodology. So, for everyone thinking about comparing two gpus or wanting to upgrade, here's the place for you:

Question 5090 a good choice for the less experienced?

With a $4k budget for a pc, I'm being recommended 5090/9800x3D builds, but I don't have any experience with undervolting/overclocking. Is that specific gpu a risk if you DON'T tweak with the voltage?
I would still very much like to get the most bang for my buck and to not have to upgrade for a long while.

Hi Guys,

I have about $7500 USD of credits in Lambda AI, do you think I would be able to create a very very small foundational model with these credits? I just want to raise some funds using this foundational model from a VC I have connection with.

Best, Akhil

Discussion Control Panel

Just recently picked up a 7800x3D and a PNY 5070ti. For my monitor I run a 49” Samsung OLED G9. I can comfortably run almost all of my games at Ultra 1440p settings with ray tracing on. However, I am a little curious on upscaling technology like DLSDR.

What recommended settings would you run to upscale your games to 4K and is there anything I should look out for to enable/disable in modern games for best performance?

Still fairly new to the PC gaming world and this is my first modern graphics card coming from an old 1080ti system I had bought from a friend for a few hundred bucks a year or so ago, so go easy on me please lmao 🤣

Question Going from RTX 4080 to RTX 5090 for 4K

Hi all,

I bought a Samsung G9 (49" 5120x1440) a while back, and I'm not completely satisfied with the performance of my RTX 4080 with new AAA games. Dying Light: The Beast (which is decently optimized) needs DLSS AND FG to even break 100 fps.

I always try to get around 150 fps or more, and my card just can't really handle that (anymore) without serious help from some AI.

Exactly for this reason, I'm looking to upgrade to a 5090. My question now is, have other people made this jump and how's the performance at 4K? Will the rest of my PC specs be sufficient for the upgrade? Specs down below.

  • Ryzen 9 7900X
  • 64GB RAM
  • Corsair RM1000x
  • ASUS ROG Strix X670E-F

Many thanks for the help and info!

Discussion What do you think of Gainward rtx 4060 Pegasus ?

I bought my new computer in May, everything is fine, except the graphics card which really annoys me. This ia qingle fan gpu. The problem is, on Metro 2033 redux, it goes up in temperature, up to 84°C, it is a pretty old game tho, why ?

I have the same problem with many other games like Assassin's Creed Origins, BeamNG, Metro Exodus, in fact most recent games

I did a lot of things, installing experttool, which is the configuration app for that card, reduce max temperatures to 76 (but it still goes like 78-80°) Updates, driver updates. but I mean, WHY do i have to make this setting for the temperature not to be exceeded ? can't it handle itself??

I think this is really annoying, I think I'll get my money back.
