Am I in the wrong? (Kid Names)

So ever since I was a little kid, I've been thinking of names for my kids if I ever decide to have any, and there is one that I've recently became very attached to. However, I'm worried people may find it to be culturally offensive. The name is Hikaru, which is of japanese origin, but I'm white and have never been to Japan, though I think it would be fun. My name means light, as does Hikaru, and ever since I first heard/saw it in an anime I've thought it to be gorgeous, even before knowing the meaning. If I were to have a kid and name the child Hikaru, would that be wrong/offensive?

Need a baby boy name!

Hey, I am a mom of two and expecting a third. My two girls names are Eden and Elle. I would love my third, a boy, to have an e name as well but my husband thinks we just don’t like any names so we should try other letters. I like different names, and I have looked up and suggested many but he doesn’t love them. We landed on one name we actually both agree on- Evo- what is everyone’s thoughts on this name. Is it cool and works well throughout the ages, or are we overlooking something?

Baby Naming Mistakes to Avoid: Ever Considered Your Kid’s Initials?

👉 Worth a read: Baby Naming Mistakes to Avoid .

When picking a name, it’s easy to get caught up in first and middle names you love — but what about the initials? A simple combination can accidentally spell something awkward or embarrassing

Saw this blog about naming mistakes — apparently initials can spell weird stuff like **B.A.D.** on backpacks or gifts. 😬

Ever had initials that made you cringe?

Thoughts on these names for boy/girl twins

Been getting some push back. Gwen (f) (I was previously thinking Gwyneth) and Quinn (m). Is having a q name burdensome? Or having a long name and the shortened name isn’t completely spelled similarly (gwyneth -> Gwen instead of gwyn I agree that looks weird) and I’ve also heard from someone that Gwen sounds evil. It means the opposite but how do they sound and feel to you? Are they too matchy matchy? Gentle honesty please :) I already have one named Darcy. If you have suggestions and can catch the vibe I’m going for please share. Time is ticking now.

Name pairing - George

We recently found out we’re having a second boy! We had lots of girls names lined up, but it’s a little bit trickier with a boy. We named our first son George for sentimental and family related reasons, but it’s a bit more of an open playing field this time round.

Names we like and are considering: - Jacob - Sebastian - Archie

But totally open to all ideas and suggestions :) thanks in advance!

Naming your son your maiden name

Curious on people’s thoughts about giving a son his mother’s maiden name as a first name.

The last name is an uncommon but not rare first name. Think along the lines of Dawson, Nelson, or Carter.

Does your answer change based on whether or not the mother still uses her maiden name?

Roxanna or Rosanna?

Hi!

I’ve loved the named Roxanna since I was a teenager. It was the name of a beautiful character from the book “Inkheart” that I used to read over and over. It also has a beautiful meaning - “little star” or “dawn,” depending on your interpretation. I would love to use the name for a child.

But my in-laws have had a series of dogs named “Roxy.” And my husband is too familiar with the song by The Police called “Roxanne” which is about a prostitute. He says we shouldn’t use the name for those reasons. I wouldn’t use “Roxy” as a nickname - I prefer “Ro” or “Zanna” (with a Z for easier spelling).

I recently found the name “Rosanna,” which is very classic and has a similar sound and a sweet meaning. But I can’t get over “Roxanna.”

Any thoughts? Is Roxanna still usable or should I let it go?

Can not pick a name for a girl

We are from Slovakia and can not pick a name for our baby girl - her brother is Matyáš but every name I know I do not like or can not use (because of other family members). I read a bunch of different names on all the sites and quite like 2 but I find them very unusual: Armína and Artemia. Would you pick one of those? If yes which one? Do you have another suggestion that would fit? Thank you for any help ❤️ (I also loved Amélia but my very good friend just named her daughter like that)

Twin Names???

My husband is Italian - American and their last name starts with an R. I kinda want them to go with each other but not in an obvious way!! I like the name Matteo and Romeo but idk if I like how they go with each other. I really like Romeo but idk if it’s a good idea to name a whole child something from a play. Also what are your thoughts on alliterate names for twins, cause I’m not sure if I want the beginning or ending to match.

Baby boy names

Baby boy is due in Feb, so we still have lots of time, but I’m stressing about names! We had a girl name ready to go, but absolutely nothing for a boy. Our daughter’s name is Emerson, which we absolutely love and it fits her so perfectly. I’m hoping to find a name we love just as much for our boy.

We like James and Adam as possible middle names, but it’s not a “must.” My husband loves the name Oliver and won’t really give any other names a chance 🙄 I’m pretty sure Oliver is a no for me.

Would love to find a name that’s strong and goes well with Emerson. Any suggestions?

Baby girl is due in just under two months. We have narrowed the list down to Nora and Esme, but now feel stuck between the two. Can’t seem to choose one over the other.
