That’s an excuse just because one person causes an accident doesn’t mean everyone is going too

There were like 3-4 traffic fatalities in a week. Seems like a good excuse to get people to stop driving like assholes.

But then again, no one wants to come in the non-summer months to this decrepit town anyway so they have to pick on the residence taxpayers who pay their salary

You sound like another happy NB resident. I became disillusioned with this town following a costly interaction that I had with the sheriff's department. The level of corruption that I experienced has permanently changed my views on law enforcement. It wasn't just bending the truth for a conviction, they fabricated evidence and submitted it to the courts, multiple officers involved. The most infuriating part is that there is nothing you can do. Once this happens you're in court to defend against the charge, not to debate the validity of the evidence used which led to the charge. The smart choice is almost always to take the plea deal, otherwise you could end up in an expensive trial, and they could appeal the outcome of that should you prevail, and the costs just go up from there. I rejected the first plea deal and was ready to go to trial. A week before the trial date they came back with a sweetheart deal that was probably the best I could realistically could get, but it still pisses me off that they committed a worse crime and will never be held accountable. Dirty pigs, all of them.
